Yesterday I had to leave during the GAA final show and didn't get to thank you all enough. I really didn't expect to win all these categories and as you could probably see I was very unprepared when I wrote my speech for Designer.

First of all I'd like to give a special mention to FinMan who has been doing great in the HALF levels and has helped me in pretty much all of the contests that took place in the last year. Whether I play alone or we play as a team he can usually point out the blind spots in my styles and it is always helpful. I'm so glad that dat won the best team because despite all the rändom trashtalk in the eol chat we actually have what you might call a team spirit. All the countless Skype conversations with FM and b0ne, stylefinding sessions, making collab levels and doing all this random stuff you can imagine is exactly why I enjoy being in this team. Elasto Mania is often taken really seriously (a bit too much ) but we also try to get all the fun out of it Also I'm super proud of B0NE THE 0NE for the Warm Up world record. You really deserved your GAA win(s)!

So. HALF. Last evening niN told me in Skype that HALF pack won the GAA Contest. It took me a while to process that because HALF pretty much represents years of level designing to me. It was always one of those "forever projects" Many of the levels are made long before we even called it HALF. A very good example is HALF1V that was originally made for a pack called Zero 2010. It took me 5 years to get it out
Designing with Ramone is always a joy. First thing that comes to my mind is the way we comment the levels we show each other. If we don't like something we say it out loud. You make something you like and the other one says it sucks. Some other people might think it's just us being rude but we just really try get the best out of a potential idea and both of us enjoy the process of doing so. Making these levels over the last years has taught us a great deal about level making in general and while I'm not sure if I will start such a project ever again I'm glad we spent all the time polishing the levels. We literally spent tens or even hundreds of hours trying different visuals, placing masks, playing with the new visual trick visible in the start of HALF1A. All that knowing that many of the players will just play the levels with low details. It is just ridiculous. Well.... it was until we got all the positive feedback. That moment we truly knew that it was all worth it. I really can't thank you guys enough. I'm looking forward to the videos because it will be a kick-ass way to end such a massive project

I want to write a few more words about the artistic side of HALF levels and my levels in general. Making levels has been a really nice way to present myself. I don't know how to draw or paint. I've never been able to get my ideas out on paper but somehow I've learnt how to do that in elma. Try explaining that to a person outside the scene, it sounds geeky on a whole new level and it could never be taken seriously but it does mean a lot to me personally. Making cool shapes in editor is just perfectly satisfying and just a great way of spending time. It's really fascinating what you can do in such a simple-looking game like this. I try new stuff all the time and I've noticed that you can always get new ideas and learn more. The possibilities in the elma editor are limitless in all its limitations and making levels is just as relaxing as it is challenging. As niN described it: "I'm like a child with the perfect toy".

Elma community might be small but all the contests, meetings and other events that happened last year are hosted and participated with so much passion that I am genuinely happy about being a part of all this. Thank you all.
