Suggest badges/medals for final belma

Post by User »

final version of belma will have all kinds of cool new features and stuff, one of them is medal/badge system. they are basicly just personal achievements that hopefully encourage people to play and hoyl more.

suggest any achievements you would like to see in this topic. each category could maybe have 4 ranks or so (tin, bronze, silver and gold). gold of course being the hardest one to achieve and tin could be fairly easy. or suggest your own system if you like

for example:

*battle wins

- tin: 10 wins
- bronze: 50 wins
- silver: 150wins
- gold: 300 wins

if you cant come up with any new category but think some achievement is too easy/hard to get you can comment on here and say how it should be in your opinion.

new belma saves all kinds of different information so its possible to come up with all kinds of different achievements. for example apples taken, time spend playing, throttle time, brake time, how many times finished, died or escaped, amount of left volts, right volts, supervolts and turns. also speedometer is now avaible

be creative and suggest all kinds of stuff, these are mainly just a added bonus and supposed to be fun to try and get, they dont have to be that serious and dont forget levelmakers neither, im sure people would make more levels just to get some achievements :)

Ez platinum for 1000 ballewins.

I think there should be same kind of system for levmakers.
Gold for 300 battled levels and such.

Yeah, 1000 is good amount for platinum. Jappe's suggestions for bronze & tin sound ok. But I'd put 500 for gold and maybe 200 for silver. They mustn't be too easy :)

I'd put these same numbers for levelmaking prizes, too.

i think level quality should be encouraged, not quantity. give badges for average level rating (every user can rate level/replay: http://elmaonline.moposite.com/?s=battles&b=337 , :P)

example of a scale from 1 to 10 (minimum 10 levels made)
5-6 tin
6-7 bronze
7-8 silver
8-9 gold
9-10 platinum

average level rating

does this list give ranks without any deadline? imo, there should be ranks like this every period:
day: 2 wins = tin, 10 wins = bronze, 20 wins = silver, 40 wins = gold, 50 wins = platinium
week: x7

what about getting medals for good internal times, like in trackmania :P
should be a bit easier than current target times, to not dismotivate n00bies

Where will these badges be shown? Imo it could be like a crown or something in front of in-game chat name. But that would only apply to battle wins if there are many categories, others will be shown on the website? Nice idea anyway.

yea, those numbers are far too high. We have easily 50 battles per day but who plays so much? I think the numbers could be more like:

day: 1 wins = tin, 3 wins = bronze, 5 wins = silver, 7 wins = gold, 10 wins = platinum
week: x5
month: x15
year: x100

Dunno if the numbers are still too high. For example to get bronze medal of a year you should get 300 victories, which is quite much. But i don't know either is this system really needed. The Jappe's system (no time restrictions) could work as well.

Hmm only mawane is online for 50 balles in a day...

And I think that zebras numbers abit too big. But those week, month and year things are ok. :P

edit: Those mawanes ones really could be "nolife" badges. :D

Hmm I don't think though that it should be a time period on the acheivements. If you are gold that means ur damn good but have also been playing the game for quite some time. My opinion anyway.

Also with the 1000 wins for platinum I was thinking the same thing.

Anyone know where I can get belma without logging onto Mirc? Having troubles with Mirc but would like to try to get belma working again.

I havent been battling in belma so i duno where to put realistic limits (tho these should be quite hard to achieve), anyway:

Pwnage award: 10 straight wins in battles with at least 7 participants each
Team pwnage award: 3 guys from same team places Top3 in 3 consecutive battles with minimum 7 participants
The 110-speed in Tag-award: For guys following in the footsteps of Jappe ;p
Internal Top5 Best Times: You alone hold Top5 of fastest finishes in any internal (this award you can lose if someone breaks into your Top5)
The headache award: You have died X times in some period of time. Like 2000times/week (some minimum amount of playing time needed here so that you cant start Steppes and bang your head to the pole 2000 times in 20 mins)
Pipe award: You are the only one who managed to finish a pipebattle with at least 7 participants.

Just some suggestions.
Awards could look something like these

The main thing we need is a good rating system. Winning battle with 50+ players, including Zweq, Markku, etc. is much better than winning battle with 3 noob participants. The best system I know is TopCoder's Rating System.

Jappe wrote:good suggestions john- but i personally dont think awards should be something you can lose, pipe award hard to implement because belma doesnt differentiate balles in anyway, dunno about team stuff either. no idea if you can set team in final version (i have the beta and it doesnt have team box in setup)
You're right about pipe award, didnt think of that (kinda thought belma had some pipemode). However, I still think you should be able to lose the Internal Top5 Best Times-award, at least if this award is implemented right away. At the moment the registered Best Times is just semigood, at least they were last time I checked, and if you're not able to lose an Internal Top5 Best Times-award "everybody" will have an Internal Top5 Best Times-award. Some reasonable guy with some belmascene-involvement could decide when ALL the internal-times has gone from semigood to good and then change the award to a permanent one. You shouldn't be able to get this award for free.

didn t want to read all post so sry if this was mentioned before:

what about a "buzzer beater" medal/badge: Everytime u take the lead in a battle when there are less than 5s left u get a buzzer beater point and the one with most points gets the badge or such...dunno if possible with new version though...

Is really anything else needed than medals based on the battle stats (which is hopefully coming, using that nifty formula skint and mila came up with or something else)? Maybe also based on stats of current month.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

its a good idea. but i can see people trying to take advantage of it, for example, there may only be 2 people online on a week day at 6 in the morning, any person could just start a balle for one minute on some random level and keep raising their stats over and over. i think there should be some kind of requirement, perhaps having a minimum of 5 people in the battle in order to have a recorded win would be a good idea imo.

there was discussion about rating system where it matters to who (and how many) do you lose to or who do you win. but that's hard to connect to "battles won" badge or whatever.

well quite often when i went to play belma at about 3PM here, i'm only one there, so this spam idea might be very neccesary.
