Finish All Levels (1—400 Finished)

Post by Lee »

Today I was browsing the TMNF-X (Track Mania Nations Forever Exchange) website and noticed that the current track count (592,886) is not much higher than Elma Online's level count (561,119 as of typing this). I couldn't help but feel a little excited as we are set to overtake TMNF-X in level count. But one thing stuck out to me. In Track Mania, it is generally required for a track to be validated before it is posted. Validation means that the player must actually finish the level before sharing it with others. With Elma Online that is not the case. Our game's database is likely filled with many impossible levels.

With this information, I propose a challenge to anyone who'll join me: We try to finish as many levels as possible from the database.
I have already gone through and checked all levels from id 1 to 100. Apart from internal 55, multi levs, clearly impossible levs (incomplete levs, etc.), apple battle levs, and levels not found in the database, I have finished all but two of the unfinished levs. The two still unfinished are https://elma.online/levels/67 and https://elma.online/levels/99. I am certain 67 is possible, and 99 would require either some sick bounce or brutal to get to the flower. I will be trying these levels frequently, and wouldn't mind some help. After those two are finished I will continue onwards past id 100.

Btw, it would be nice if some admin could give some quick stats on how many levels have not been finished yet.

Feel free to add notes or tick off any that you have finished.

Hello Lee!

This is very interesting approach! I had the same thing in my mind year or two ago and searched through the EOL database. Anyway, after seeing the vast amount of levels, I quickly gave up on that idea. Instead, I downloaded all the level packs and now I have been trying to finish most of the level pack levels. Well, I think I have finished around 2000 levels of around 50000 levels now (these are very rough numbers, maybe Kopaka could check how many levels there are totally in the level packs). So my challenge would be to finish all the level packs!

It's also very nice to see comparison to TMNF, I played quite a lot the first version of TMNF during its golden years.

Kopaka, in EOL site I would like to have the following features:
- To see how many levels have been finished of a level pack
- To see how many levels I have finished of a level pack
- To see how many levels have been finished totally
- To see how many levels I have finished totally

Also would be interesting
- To download a random unfinished level from the database
- To order player list by amount of finished levels

really cool idea, but scary many unfinished levels :0

Like Zebra is saying, what if you could add like command ingame such as !rand and !randuf or such, where !randuf downloads and loads a random unfinished level from the DB (rand would just dl and load any random level)

Then if you play a level you can use command !impsy to vote the level as completely impossible, or !hard if you think its possible but maybe you cant finish yourself. Then maybe if at least 2-3 votes for !impsy or !hard it sets that flag on elma.online.

Then you could filter levels on the website by unfinished and hard to see possible levels to improve, and impsy levels will get impsy flag.

very much work for something that likely wont be used much, but could be an idea)

53.138 levels in packs.

That can be seen on the pack page, when unfinished TT will show X/Y under records and personal tabs.

Thanks Kopaka, found the ratio from the bottom of the personal page. Was quite hard to find :)
Would be nice to see it (the number of levels I have finished of a level pack) directly in the level pack list. But there seems to be already so much information in the level pack list that I guess it's hard to add.

Finished 883 (not sure why this was unfinished, was first try in lev) and 934. This is a nice idea, it would be nice if the finishable levels could be for example battled.

Nice ones!

There was another ali003.lev with a different ID. It looked like a different iteration of the design process. Even though it was unfinished (and not beginner friendly) it was still a fun lev.
I did battle a couple of levs, but no one was able to finish except me. I upped some recs if you're interested in seeing the difficulty of those levs:

nice leek)

very controversial opinion i know, but imo there should be a possibility to battle some of these levels. Many of the ones I have finished were really nice ffs and normal levels, so if one level is clearly finishable but maybe a bit hard, why not battle it for like 15-20 min?

I don't think there's any inherent advantage to some kuski that maaaybe barely remembers a 13 yo level that no one finished anyway)

Now, what is the total time of those 267.073 levels? Wondering how much time would it take to finish them all, if you were to equalize wr on first try. Obviously in reality there are many impsy long levels that would take hours of attempts, or even be impsy to finish for most of the players, like sierra world cup pipe lev.

Pretty cool initiative and efforts) The sux thing about this in EOL is that there are loads and loads (and loads and loads) of unfinished iterations of levs from ppl testing in-game with unlocked levs :( can't say how many but many :/

Boneless' win rec which is also uploaded to elma.online has some easier styles than Hosp's. To me there are two annoyingly hard parts: the spin stones and the bottom right hang loop (although that might not be so hard with Hosp's style).

I have a new updated sheet with all unfinished levels. There is a cell at the top that generates a URL for a random level from the list. It updates hourly or when a related cell is updated. Atm the sheet is slow to load, especially with Firefox.
