Try right-clicking the form in some place other than a button or text box; that's how it works in the level manager I think.

Is there a way to see driver paths of several players at the same time in the same window? If not perhaps it would be a nice feature, paths having different colors for each player/run and such.

Yeah that's not possible at the moment. I thought about this idea earlier but decided not to make it because it would look so messy with >5 players in the window. Especially if the drivers' paths are similar to each other, they'd also overlap each other, and topmost line might hide other lines (unless I learn some transparency stuff, don't know how hard that would be). Other solution is that user could choose the topmost player or something, and it would be highlighted red.

Maybe it also wouldn't hurt if user could pick all the colors for replay viewer. There is some color dialog component in VB .NET (don't know how it works), so it may not be so hard.

For everyone: keep an eye on the first post every now and then because I may correct some bugs (like I just did) and update RM without uselessly posting. And obviously I can edit topic title? Then I'll add some "Updated: xx.xx.xxxx" text there.

I'm quite busy doing uni stuff right now, so I can't say when I make these things. Added to todo list anyway.

Overlapping is no problem, that just shows you you drive exactly the same in every run. And yeah, >5 runs at once would be messy, but there's no reaon to do that many at once anyway.

ColorDialog1.ShowDialog() or sach?

No matter how long it takes till your next update, we still love you.

Yeah Smibu, overlapping is no problem, there's no need for transparency. Just want to be able to see where paths differ noticeably, and the program has a very nice zoom to distinguish different lines on close-up anyway.

Re: Replay manager - Updated 22nd Dec 2009 (BIG UPDATE!)

Post by Smibu »

I guess it's time to update this finally :) This update is very very recommended! See the pictures in the first post!

I haven't really bothered to keep any accurate changelog anymore, but let's list the most important ones:

Main program updates/new features:
-Whole new replay list component that has columns. This allows you to see much more information at the same time. You can arrange the list by any of the columns by clicking its header. To reverse the order, click it again. You can also change the order of columns with click+hold+drag.
-Duplicate replay search is a lot faster.
-Duplicate filename search for replays.
-Replay viewer is in separate window now. You can open as many new viewers as you want.
-Program settings are saved now in the same directory as the program itself. (Used to be something like C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\ReplayManager. You can delete this folder now, otherwise it'll stay there for good.)
-When saving stuff to textfile, all info (not only rec filenames and times) will be saved in it. This means the infos in the replay list.
-You can have as many compare windows open as you want.
-Use regular expressions to search replays for specific externals. For example, if you want to search for all replays driven in SmiPi levels, you should type in the box "^SmiPi.*$" without quotes. More info about regular expressions can be found in Wikipedia I guess. :)
-Open level file of selected replay with default program.

Replay viewer updates/new features:
-Select colors for objects/active player/inactive player/ground/sky/driving lines for each player.
-Event list that shows events for currently selected player. Click some event in the list to go in that moment in viewer. You can filter different events with the six checkboxes.
-Zoom in/out with mouse wheel (in addition to left/right click).
-See multiple players' driving lines at the same time by highlighting many replays in the playlist. "Show driver path" must be checked of course. Driving lines aren't visible while playing.
-Playing is controlled now by a timer, which makes playing (hopefully) smoother.
-Current speed shown for currently selected player.
-Separate button for saving replay viewer settings. Note that for driving lines, only the color for 1st player's line is saved. This is mainly because there's no upper bound for the number of replays in the playlist.

You can open replay viewer in two different ways: either as an independent or as a normal one. The only difference in independent one is that the replays in the playlist won't get updated if you select new replay in main window's list. If you open more than one normal viewer, the old ones will become independent.

Remember that I've put shortcut keys for all functions in replay list's right-click menu (Ctrl+something). You can also double-click a replay to open normal viewer. If you want to reset RM's settings, just delete the ReplayManager.cfg file. There's no separate reset button anymore (partially because I couldn't get it to work for some reason :)). I'm simply too lazy to update the documentation file, which is why I don't include it in the zip because it's very outdated. This has been tested quite a lot (thanks also to Mawane). But as always, please report all bugs in this topic or PM me with exception text included. I'd be actually quite surprised if you find any :)

Enjoy! And Merry Xmas.

Re: Replay manager - Updated 4th Apr 2010 (Another big update!)

Post by Smibu »

Another quite big update for RM:

-Simplified user interface
-Separate configuration window
-Better replay list
-Ability to generate a database from replays to make searches faster
-Separate replay properties - window for viewing properties
-Resizable main window (vertically) to adjust replay list size

Now the replay and level folder selection should be a lot better. If either of them is not specified, the config window will pop up on program startup.

To CuLiNo: you can't choose "Internal replays" + "Elma levels" because "Elma levels" option is meant for searching replays that have been driven in external Elma levels (not Across). When you select "Internal replays", the bottom option will switch to "Both" (to make sure it wasn't in "Across levels"). In other words, this is not a problem. About that "Open level file" -bug... I hope this version fixes it, I haven't got that myself.

The exe's size is now bigger because I have included 2 external libraries (ObjectListView.dll and Lzma#.dll) to improve replay list and for compressing replay database (if wanted). I just merged them together with a tool because it's easier to have just one file.

The main window's picture looks kinda empty in the first page because some options are hidden depending on selections. And btw - I don't recommend checking "Update replay list while searching" -checkbox because it makes the search a lot slower. I still included that option since some ppl may want it.

As always: post bug reports and feedback here as much as possible ;)

Re: Replay manager - Updated 9th May 2010 (OpenGL + LGRs!)

Post by Smibu »

New:

-OpenGL drawing (much faster than earlier)!
-LGR file support (you can see ground and sky textures in viewer now).
-DLL files are now separate (there are 6 of them). Put them in the same folder as ReplayManager.exe.
-Some user interface improvements

Go to http://users.jyu.fi/~mikkalle/Elma to download and see screenshots!

Btw - having more than 1 replay viewer open does not work atm. It's because OpenGL tries to render to the same window all the time or something... I'll try to fix this later.

Improved replay viewer. It shows almost in-game graphics (let the picture tell): http://users.jyu.fi/~mikkalle/Elma/pict ... viewer.png

The only difference is that grass is not shown and the bike is not yet complete. Download link in first post!

Updated: better GUI and added suspensions for players in replay viewer. Many bugs/annoying things fixed too.

Note that you'll need .NET Framework 4 from now on. Also, the DLL files were updated, so redownload them too. (Delete the old ones first because the names are different)

@Bismuth: you may have some registry errors with Replay manager (Mawane had same problem). Download CCleaner from Piriform and run a registry scan with it.

-Simplified user interface a bit
-Press F2 to rename a replay from now on. Editbox will appear above the replay list. Press Esc to cancel renaming and enter to accept new name.
-Default ground/sky -option for replay viewer
-Search only best replays: this option will only pick replays that have the best time in a level. Useful for getting a collection of your best replays for a levelpack, for example.

Big update - changed program's name because now it has 2 components - replay manager and level editor! Go to first post to download.

Quick screenshot of the level editor: http://users.jyu.fi/~mikkalle/Elma/pict ... editor.png

My level editor doesn't support yet:
-Pictures
-Textures
-Transforming polygons

but it has also features that ALE doesn't have, such as pipe creation. And this has far less bugs ;)

wtf bug:
I tried changing time in replay to something more precise (between the two steps when clicking on the arrows) and it turned my resolution into like... 320x240 with a grey screen. Pressing esc fixed that. But...? wtf

Screen was grey though, not blue, but that's what prt screen did.

you probably didnt set good resolution for full screen mode, esc is the hotkey to exit full screen or to restore down window if not full or to close if already restored down

BTW: in RM, needs to let a bit more space in Option 2 for words step (only half of p is shown)

So far I'm not sure if it's even possible to handle "DLL missing" -exceptions because those kind of exceptions are thrown before any of my own code is executed. I can try to search some forums for a solution to this anyway.

AutoGrass should be pretty ez to implement, but I have never really used grass in my levs so I gotta check what the exact rules are for making grass so I won't make it buggy :)

the point of my post was to give a programming problem(not really a problem) for smibu, as he seems to be enthusiastic about it, he may do it or not.

Thanks for good feedback ;) I did some new updates now:

-AutoGrass
-QuickGrass (applies AutoGrass to all ground polygons, a function for the lazy ppl :))
-Undo/redo (pretty necessary feature)
-Kuski's right wheel and head is also shown, and if the head is touching ground, you will be notified when checking topology
-Some bug fixes

You can't adjust autograss width (and possibly other properties) yet. It will be possible in the future.
