Haven't you always been craving for a cup that combines level designing, external driving, internal skills and maybe even some piping? Me neither, but here it is anyway!

ReDesign Cup by Orcc and Ville_J

This cup consists of 16 carefully selected internal levels. The levels are released two at a time, making the length of the cup eight weeks. Unlike in normal cups, in Redesign cup you're allowed to edit the levels. However, you are only allowed to add new polygons and not touch the original ones. After making the level as fast to drive as possible, you still need to drive that fast run!

Low fps cannons and such are of course forbidden. The members of the same team are allowed to play same level (note that everyone still needs to upload the .lev file individually). The first two levels will be revealed on Sunday, January 16th at 19:00 GMT+2.

EDIT: Note that you can move the start for testing purposes, but use the script on the site to get it back to exact original position.

EDIT2: Be sure to rename the levels when you start editing them! It doesn't matter how you name them.

Sounds very cool. But why it has to be a cup? Why not a basic contest with no deadlines?

nice, for the last ½ year or so I have been thinking of contest about internals where editing one vertex only is allowed, it should be technically possible, but this might be even better

EDIT: QUESTION: what about putting polygon inside wheel in start? you can get slight speed boost like that and is kinda mongo =S

I thought we'd get more players this way and it's been a while since the last cup. Surely it's possible to make a contest with all the internals after the cup is over.

3. Wheels must not be inside ground on start (unless that happens in the original level). Also "cannons" or abnormal braking stretches with low fps are forbidden.

seeems very cool. I always wanted to have a contest/cup with editing mixed with it.. but never knew how it could be done (make sure wrong things arent edited), but now seems you fixed that with some script.

Check this in eolconf.exe, and others won't be able to download your lev. They will still see the times with F7 or eolsite profile page (and also see the map from there). Play offline or even make new elma folder! Especially if you use some external editor.

that way they are uneditable! ppl should just name levels whatever the FUCK they want or what?

First levels out! The first one is probably the easiest lev in the cup, whereas the second requires some thinking. Go design!

Ramone: Yes, you can name the levels however you like. I told Ville_J to rename them, but I suppose he didn't have time before he went away

onw morw thing, rules say we cannot delete or change polygons, does that go for grass polys too?

I'm pretty sure the script checks all the original polygons, including grass ones. Can't check now, since the site is megaslow

But you can try those yourself as well, since you can upload as many levs and recs as you need.

And yes, I will clarify the rules a bit once Ville_J comes back. Also note that your fourteen best results will count towards your total score, so playing alld the events could be better idea than just skipping two!

i can't get on eol right now, so no worries

and i've just made my totally sweet tunnel time and might skicka in now cos of exams next days. but so far this cup is really fun, you can really improve your lev/time forever.

edit: and uploading levs and recs seem to be working fine. is the script that checks if the levs are ok part of the uploading?

Try getting some help from teammates! Everyone makes own version of the lev and then compare and put the best parts together.

So how does it differ from normal cuplev? You can always improve your time forever

Skialz people only need five minutes on Sunday morning

EDIT: Team points will very likely be added together from top three kuskis of a team, so try getting at least that many people in your teams!

so just play offline to avoid upload

Axxually that's not true, you can't download locked levs. If you finish a run in a locked lev it only becomes visible through a link on your EOL site profile page (Latest times), but from there you can only see the map and not download the lev. Having said that I still suggest you play offline when you höyl for the cup!

Ok, the deadline is now changed to 19:00 GMT+2 as it was supposed to be in the first place. Something strange has been going on the server.

If you want to change your team (make a cup team or so) just contact me or Orcc. Also, there has already been some suggestions how to improve the site.. like deleting own files and organizing. I will make new features when the time is right, if you have suggestions pls tell.

i have a few questions!

can we add pictures and masks to polygons we create? and or change original pictures in the level?

can we change the "properties" like the foreground/background?

If we upload levels to the site and it says successful, does that mean it passed the script?? if not is there way to see if the level is acceptible?

You should be able to add/remove pictures and change background/foreground, name and whatever. If the site says the level file was acceptable, then it means the original polygons were not touched and the lev was correctly edited. You should be able to rely on that, but ofc if you notice some kind of bug in the script and try to abuse it we can disqualify you. The rules state that you're not allowed to touch original polygons or (add) objects, so as long as you follow those rules you should be safe.

Btw, didn't find information about playing same level from rules section. Bug I guess only members of the same team are allowed to play same level? (as it was told somewhere)
