HoHosts the night
by niN and umiz

In the spirit of elma me and my teammate umiz would like to invite you nabs to the first of (hopefully many more to come) what we call HoHosts the night. It's relatively simple; we've prepared 6 levels to battle (ofc other traffic will not be hindered or banned, so there will most likely be other battles between the 6 events).

This is not World Battle cup, or anything else of such "high-class". It's an attempt to provide or share what team HoHo qualify as interesting levels and maybe encourage people to join EOL, or I dunno... get inspired by the levels or something...

There are no particular rules to how this is being arranged. What I mean is that a battle could be started as FF, or any other type, for any timelimit; 40 or 10 or 100 minutes etc.

We hope you will make it there and have a wonderful evening with us!

The first HoHosts the night will be held this sunday, the 29th of march and I will add the first level to the battleque at 18:00 GMT+1.

The second HoHosts the night will be held tomorrow thursday, the 26th of november and I will add the first level to the battleque at around 19:00 GMT+1.
If there are a lot of battles between our levels the event might stretch far - even to long after midnight but this is not a problem. Maybe some canadian etc. players will appreciate that!

Sounds like a good event. You say you will start levs in a loop, that means you will re battle the levels?

no sorry, that was not what I meant :P Badly phrased by me. I mean ofc I will start the battles one after the other. Loop is a bad word to use there.

Consecutive is the word you want.
I think the map preview thing is a bad idea. Think about those who aren't aware of this event, they will be greatly disadvantaged.

consecutive! thanks lee =)

I disagree with you on the map Lee, yes it will be a big disadvantage to those who do not see the maps in advance, but it will add a great deal of more fun to those who do study them. I see 3 advantages:
1) more fun for the ppl who study,
2) It will add another aspect to these battles (what gave me the idea originally is when you compete in whitewater kayaking you are allowed to practice as many times as you want in the section before the competition starts)
3) It might make those who "aren't aware of this event" more willing to take part of one of the biggest part of the scene: mopolauta (and if it does then its good for the scene). I wont symphatize with people who are complaining time after time again about people knowing styles beforehand, yet they're not willing to do anything about it themselves.

Can also use New! editor for the same thing. If maps are good resolution can make pretty good practice levs I guess.

I tried with RAD a little and I don't think this is a big problem. I just edit the maps so that the levmaker can't create a lev from it, but the human eye can still see what is the lev and what is not.

And it's over!

Thanks to everyone who played! Very mixed reactions to the levels. A few negative comments which is always sad to see when you put time and effort into something that you share with others. ofc this is the elma-way of raging and I can see that, so I wil not take anything too close to the heart. On the other side of the smörgås many people appreciated the levels and the event as a whole. HoHo will put it's focus on those reactions and move on to do more of these nights in the future!

A lot of people asked about stats so I will put this and future events on http://www.nindex.se, but this will take a little time to do, so I will start tomorrow. And a few constructive comments about the pre-posted maps was heard! Sorry for the badly made maps, next time I will put more energy into making the scales understandable.

I will post in this topic when we have a set date for the next night!

And top ten here:

Code: Select all

1	42 (0)	Zero	dat
2	41 (1)	jblaze
3	38 (3)	Lousku	BAP
4	30 (8)	finman
5	27 (3)	ville_j
6	25 (2)	adi
7	22 (3)	Blaz	CMR
8	21 (1)	TTechnik
9	11 (10)	Lukazz
10	10 (1)	roope	MiE
Good job guys :) I will discuss with umiz and we will get back about date for 2nd event!

The way the stats are made is that if you are not registered on nindex then it can't show your team, but if you only register then it will find the team you registered with :)

lol ok, I will put team in for you, and I will also fix so that if you log on with correct password and nick, and team form is something else then what is written in the database (and not left empty) it changes team.

EDIT: done. to change your team, simply log in with team form filled

A very last minute thing has double booked my schedule today and I won't be home until midnight!

This means that the event will be postponed to this thursday night instead (unless umiz can jump in and cover for me which I doubt on such short notice!)
