(probably) THE FIRST CUP where the events date and time is adjusted to your will, not the other way round, so you cant really miss any event!

If you feel weak - don’t be scared of signing up, everyone has a chance to get to the playoffs, and that will definitely be praised!!!!
Got no time? dont be afraid - group stage will take at least whole July and August. 6 battles per 2 months? doesnt sound much

1st part: REGISTRATION! Simply, send “im in” message in PM here, or on EOL, so I can see that. After thinking all over, amount of players will be limited to:
32 players -> 8 groups of 4 players, 2 from each group passing to playoffs (max 96 levs to be played in group stage + 16 levels for play offs)
The registration will be closed at suitable moment, which is reaching 32 players
Started on 31st may, ended on 16th june

2nd part: randomizing groups, soonish after registration is closed. to make it fair, i will randomize the groups only once, and the groups will stay the way they were randomized. i wont go for finding equal or interesting groups on purpose
Done on the 16th june

3rd part: Beginning somewhere around 1st of JULY. Playing matches. I will talk with all the pairs personally and set suitable for both players date and then give the levels. The winner gets 2 points for each win, loser gets 0 points.
It will be possible for more than one pair to play the same level!
Battles will be easy, max 30s long, no hard tricks/sick styles etc. Battles will be 15-25min long
I have no idea how long will this stage last! it might be a month, it might be 4 months, hard to estimate. depends on players availability also.
started on 16th june, ended on 23rd of october

4th part: selecting the play-off pairs. randomizing the players who advanced. guys who advanced from X group wont play against each other again in the first knockout phase.
Done on the 23rd october

5th, final part: play-offs,
Date and time will be set after talking with each pair again.
Bit more complex levs, longer battles, still no rampfrenzy-octopussy-tricks.
Half finals and finals 50-60min battles.
started on 23rd october. FINALS ???

QUESTIONS, SUGGESTIONS, BASH, WRITE HERE!

Question: how will work the system when for example Sla vs Madness have to play and they decide what time? I mean, if the event is 30mins, how can we be sure both players played exactly 30mins? What if one player says "hey i made better time than u" and the other says "no, u made it 1 min later than event time"?

Nice idea btw. I was going to do this instead of mawlimination but i opted for an easier system for the very first time.

When the set hour comes, i will either
1 start the level as a battle (good because there wont be any controversies about timing. also good because no external guy can come and spread styles/moves. bad because if someone makes IMPSY time you start thinking, and you can find something. but thats equal for both players. )
2 upload the level to database, write "DOWNLOAD ECLxxx NOW", start a timer irl and when time comes i write "END OF TIME" and check the results at the very moment. (good because [opposition of whats said in 1], bad because [oppositon of whats said in 2])
all this requires much planning, reliability and promptness, but im motivated and i want to make it as good and qualitive as i can.

Does anybody know about this? Pos? It would be so useful for cups where a small amount of players (or 2) have to play during x time (10mins, 30mins, 45mins) So cup's organizer can check times later without being online and counting the extac times.

Found that thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8575
But the link doesn't work anymore.
Maybe you can ask ribot to revive it?

1 July, sach perfect starting date :D I'm in!!!

Dunno if you thought about this yet, but should be ez to arrange times/dates with gogel spreadsheets?

As for the timing controversy: shouldn't it be ez to get the timestamp of times that appear in F7 from eol? Then ez check if overtime or not)

ye that might be helpful

some update:
- currently 21 players signed in, i will collect 32 and stop the registration then
- added small details in first post about 2nd and 4th "stage"
- already made 62 levels (about 30 in first 2 days), most of which will probably be battled. seems i will easily be done before july :p

I wonder, where are the old players? No matter if they are good or not. I can see only 4 or 5 of them. Its nice to have new players sure but are they all retired or just dont care about cups?

Wait, there aren't going to be actual EOL battles right?
I mean, 1v1 can't be played off with an actual battle.

if both players would prefer playing the level "alone" (not as a battle), it can be played this way. also if the queue would be huge, but 2 players want to play NOW, theres no other choice
i honsetly prefer starting the level as a battle (ofc only the 2 contestplayers count for me in this case) as it is a bit easier for me, but i guess i will mix these 2 ways of arranging every event
its pretty much up to the players which way they prefer. players' satisfaction is my priority
remember that its possible to play the same event for more than one pair at a time (ofc from different groups OR the same group if the remaining 2 players are both ready). i think it won't hurt anyone nor cause any mess.

only 4 spots left! im positively surprised about amount of participants and that it goes this fast. expected it to be way harder :p also seems i have to pace up with levelmaking

i guess the first matches will take place the next week already, i don't see a need to postpone it if we collect 32 players by then. i think it might be interesting to keep some matches for FEM, so some irl battle would occure also :p

also i just realized theres a high possibility of having a draw after the group stage (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th place). it will be solved this way:
- firstly head-to-head matches will be looked at. if someone from a drawn pair has won both battles with the other guy, then he passes to next stage
- if head-to-head is a draw, then we'll need to organise a play-off
- other cases - don't worry, i'll try to solve it in the best possible way :D

prepare for a realiable proof of showing the group randomization. soon!

well, ye. can also count totaltimes of both levels played by the pair. that would solve some draw cases.
30s lev is more probable to give bigger time difference than 15s level though, so the winner of longer lev has theoretically bigger chance of having lower TT than 15s winner. depends on levels
yet to be investigated!

offtopic:
Ruben, dont know if i ever told that before but you own one of the coolest signatures i have ever seen. for realz

As long as everybody played the same levs I'd say it's fair, but yeah.

I have shamelessly stolen my sig from Mitch Hedberg, just saying =D Also your profile pic is sic!

Okay, what about the times that are shown? Me and my opponent will see eachothers times if there is no official EOL battle, but if there is EOL battle, we will see all other players times aswell.
What are your thoughts about this?
The best would be if all times were hidden in my opinion.

Okay, what about the times that are shown? Me and my opponent will see eachothers times if there is no official EOL battle, but if there is EOL battle, we will see all other players times aswell.
What are your thoughts about this?
The best would be if all times were hidden in my opinion.

I guess times would have to be show if it were to be arranged both ways. It's still balanced, since both players have access to the same information. Only, then breaking ties with total times won't work, because those who played in battles are likely to have an advantage. All battles and hidden times would be the best, but it sounds like a pain to do.

like ruben and i earlier said. seeing times of other EOLbattle players is kinda equal for all. everyone sees the same.
during some cups that took place lately its hard to say if its better to make contest with hidden or shown times. some prefer hidden, some prefer shown.
i may consider starting hidden times battles if both players strongly wish so, though im for starting basic shown battle the most

Oke if the playing times can be arranged individually with your pair then I think it can be done, I'm in

its the final call - only 1 more guy can register! if we get the last player today, you can expect group combinations soon after!
