Turn down teh brightness and contrasts in settings? ;o
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

I had similar problems, but got used to it quite soon. Now it's back to normal again after reinstalling XP (the screen thing wasn't the reason).

I've played on flatscreen since christmas (uses ati too). Mine's a little darker than before, but doesn't really matter much.

I've had a software (PowerStrip) to fix such things...

Woohoo, i found a solution; Open ATI Catalyst Control center, select "color" in the left menu and then set "Set color correction for:" to Full Screen 3D and reduce brightness and contrast with the sliders.
