I'm doing what feels good. You are right in some extent, but it's unethical to go on saying names like that and indeed stereotyping. Also, there have always been differences among people. Before internet was for the mass, there were black metal dudes burning churches and putting knifes into heads. School shootings have been around for decades.

Luther could've been as much a paedophile as Jappe2 (or as less, for that matter). Oh, and I would think twice about doing that on the beach, if you know what happened to natalie holloway. :|

11.3.2009 - german sociopath kills some 15 people.

Have you guys ever thought of suicide? Of destructive suicide? I really wonder how people are driven into these kind of things. I'm really sure about the difference between internet and real life-world. It has some effect, obviously. Discuss.

I hate to admit that I kind of understand these people. Not the killings and all, but somehow I can relate. Probably all teased at school for years and years, of course it leaves it's mark.
They want their revenge, they want to get noticed so desperately, no matter at what cost.

I don't know any details of the German shooting, but at Kauhajoki and Jokela cases the internet got it's share of what's to blame. But I don't think it played an important part in these shootings, for some reason. Unfortunately some just are teased to that point when something in their head just snaps :x
I'd blame the teachers and people close to the person not noticing something's wrong.
It apparently just takes a year or two to plan teh.

anyway RIP for all those who have died.

PS: someone will retvieve me to the police station because of the first sentence, sach common nowadays in Finland :<

Yeah, school and parents is to blame in most of these cases in my opinion. I guess the shooters doesn't get acknowledged anywhere they go, and if they are it's because they are targets of long-term and organized harassment.

As long as people doesn't blame games and movies like GTA4 or Die Hard (maby nat the best example but the killing is somewhat glorified and turned into entertainment). Wikipedia says GTA4 has sold over 10 million copies and I doubt there's 10 million potential killers out there due to that. Conclusion: problems is in the every day life of the shooters.

Yeah everytime I see old nabs saying it's because of violent video games, I'm like "wtf, man, it's not because I have fun committing suicide in GTA4 that I will commit suicide in real life"

By the way, committing suicide in GTA4 can be hilarious.

Yes.

Yes.

in my experiences it's because of assholes at school, i've had a few people at my school suicide, and i guess i've been semi close myself at some point, it's easier to relate to the yearning to share some sorrow with the ones who caused it to you when you've been in the position.

someone asked me in class the other day "Do you think you could murder someone?" and i believe the answer is Yes for a lot of us, especially the ones that have been teased dramatically at school and workplace and so on all they're life.

interestingly, the people at my school who have been beaten in the past by parents and stuff seem less depressed... maybe they're happier and more grateful for what they've got.

I do think internet's too to blame. On the internet you can easily develop your own world, be it positive or negative. Extremities are not frowned upon on the internet, sometimes it's even hailed upon. You never know wether one's being serious.

But actually, the word blame is not a proper term to use. You can't put the internet to trial. What we indeed should realise, is the fact that youths are distancing themselves from society by the underground feel of some extreme circles or movements on the internet, just like terrorist cells, neonazi parties, blood and crips gangs. The problem is that you can retain your image offline, while diverting into a someone else online.

What's the solution for this? Online there's none. There's no way that we can forbid games, chatrooms and the likes. It's technically impossible, and not a very agreeable option either. But I guess, there will be campaigns against antisocial behaviour and kids (boys) pulling out of community life. Or appeals on the internet maybe.

I see so much kids spending their 13's, 14's and 15's behind computers (like me ;)), and let's be clear; on these ages we are adapting every influence we can get. Much frustrations of youngsters are now preserved on the internet instead of articulated in the real sphere. If tim didn't have internet, he probably would at some point have made his frustration visible in real. Much earlier than now. And probably much less violent.

Yeah, many kids spend so much time in front of the computer at so young ages because they don't have any friends irl.
But maybe because of living in an area with no same-aged kids, maybe because there's no chances to have any social hobbies. Maybe because their parents didn't tell them to go out?
Yes, I was thinking of myself when writing those.
Didn't all these school shooters live in a relatelively small towns?

I hadn't thought about committing suicide, but I'd been thinking what would i do, if I was going to commit suicide tho.
I would surely kill somebody, maybe some teachers and so on, i would also prolly have sex with/rape some girls, break into some shops, steal a car...
nice perspectives :P

Meh, much worse things are happening daily all over the world. Really, it's not that big of a deal if you look at that way; just some more innocent people dead.

Sure, it's bad that innocent die, but the fact that they lived near us doesn't really make it worse.

he didn't say that. I think the same way as Igge, it's all well and good to have massive press releases and hullabaloo about a shooting in finland where 5 people died, but nobody gives a crap about the thousands of people who die everyday because of starvation and disease, no-one makes references to the hundreds of murders each year in the U.S, do they?

Sure, if it was someone i knew, i'd be very upset, and that's understandable, but for instance the bushfires in Melbourne during last years February - the biggest global bushfire on record, the entire world knew and about 200 people died, but we've all but forgotten the tsunami a few short years ago, when over 200 THOUSAND people died.

Anyways, R.I.P, you unlucky people.

I think that people in the world count Finland as a safe country. That's why this is so big thing, it happened in "safe country". Like "how can this happen in Finland"
