my windows got a hack/virus/trojan. I decided to install linux. I bought a 500 GB western digital external hdd to make a trustworthy backup. Now that ubuntu is installed, I moved the backup to a separate partition. Somehow 70% of the data turned into gibberish. I lost all stuff in documents, included all my guitar pro files, dexter episodes, and recently downloaded music.

My music collection went from 190 gigs to 64. Only one frank zappa album survived, while I had about 60 of them.

One tip: burn your computer and commit suicide. Should I go back to the store with the usb drive? I can't believe such a good brand will FUCK ME IN THE ARSE like this.

oh yeah hi btw I told this story about two thirds gone and stuff, well guess what it's back. This HDD was fucked but with unplugging and replugging every 5 mins I managed to copy quite a lot back. Although I've had a few shocking moments when I was listening to blink for example and tom waits suddenly in the middle of song appeared.. stupid corrupted mp3's :(

Still threw away stuff like dave matthews (dame he sucks :P) and dvorak symphonies and nine inch nails and ministry albums which I never listened to. So that makes 25.650 mp3, 151.4 GB, and the partition is 175 so will not get bigger than that. But damn I'm glad django's back w00t. 8)
