Formula 1 2014!

Post by Grace »

Bahrain Grand prix starts in a few hours, Vettel on pole and Schumacher coming in 8th on his return. perhaps the star will be Massa, returning from injury into a phenomenal second position?

Discuss, anticipate.

So Schumacher is actually driving, haven't really been following news about it, cool, maybe I should start watching it again.

Damn, Vettel is definetely the moralic winner of the race. Alonso was so lucky when something happened to Vettel's car. I wonder if Alonso pressured Vettel to break his car... But cool that Rosberg beated Schumacher but shame that Mercedes's speed seems not good enough to win.

Also this must be the most boring opening race of the season ever - even the most boring seasons have always provided happeningful first races. I think this shows how utterly these new Hermann Tilke's big money tracks with asphalt safety areas suck. This is not promising for the rest of the season at all.

note that exhaust in Red Bull's RB6 car has been moved a little lower just before the race. And the problems with Vettel's car were related to exhaust! It wasn't necessarily Vettel who broke his car :P
Ferrari has a promising beginning of this season, nice work!

Of course he didn't, I referred to some Alonso's past comments when he said that he pressured the leader so hard that he broke the car.

Woah, i didn't hear this one o/ how arogant... Vettel did a great job and so did Alonso, surely great driver (look at his gaining the advantage to Massa...)

i did try to watch but it was too boring, player was all the time on the background while doing other stuff on comp. it was very boring for sure, i think the biggest problem is the new tracks, i want to watch races on classic tracks. looking forward to australian gp, monaco, canada, silverstone, hungaroring, spa, monza, suzuka and interlagos. the rest are just crap crap crap, even hockenheim sucks nowadays

spa and monaco are the best tracks :)

anyways, your thought on who to look out for in the future? I think Nico hulkenberg looks very promising, has some downright pace going on.

Races in Monaco, Hungaroring and Silverstone are boring as hell too. I think there were 0 overtakings last year on these tracks. Generally all tracks expect Monza, Spa and Interlagos don't produce good racing. It's been way better when I started watching it in late 90s.

so i went to Albert Park yesterday and saw the Australian Grand Prix.

It was amazing. such an Eventful race, the wind picking up 5 mins before the race - truly awesome.

And then that first time they came around (Lap 1) trying to work out who was missing, who was who. We were lucky - we got ourselves a spot on turn 12 - the slowest part in the circuit, so we could see them really well. Watching Webber work his way through the field was great.

Sadly we watched as Webber's day was virtually ended when he dropped his nose right in front of us. Particular grats to Kubica who drove very well.

holy crap, truly crazy conditions today... too bad McLaren and Ferrari got screwed back in Q1 and Red Bulls got more lucky and have 1 & 3 now ;/ its going to be very exciting battle tomorrow, with the old champions struggling to get ahead of all those newbies, but also it would be really ugly if it was raining as the forecast says ;/

nice race, too bad that McLarens were stuck in a traffic jam :( poor 8th of Button, but Kubica drove kinda well again, 4th! :D
Vettel... this time he succeeded, and if he keeps that pace, he can be one of the biggest favourites for the championship o,o

Grats to Alguersuari and Hulkenburg too :)

Watch out for Rosberg and Kubica in the championship, mind you. Kubica will be hungry (New car, he already got close in 08.)

Nice driving by Petrov till his car raped itself, nice driving by Sutil.

So who are going to be good new drivers come 5 years? Petrov, Hulkenburg, Sutil i'd say at least.

well... Rosberg is not a rookie anymore, but i think he may be really dangerous in a few years, really dangerous means that he will be able to fight for championship soon imo :)
Sutil indeed, but i think Liuzzi is a very good driver too, he had some bad luck lately, but for me it's really hard to say who of them is better atm. Petrov - maybe, but he needs to gain a lot of experience, he's 3 years behind Kubica and even Kubica is not so awesome yet. Hulkenberg - possible too, but i think Alguersuari is a good candidate too, he doesn't have a superior machine, Toro Rosso has a lot to be improved, but Alguersuari still performs pretty nicely :) and he's only 20 years old now!!

i hate them, i usually mute tv after some 10mins. yea i agree that kubica did a nice performance, notice that his times were better than vettel's almost during whole second stint! unfortunately another 3 sc periods and max tight track unabled him to leapfrog vettel. also the difference wasnt that big :( shame on mclaren, really awful performance in q and overheating of button's engine...
also the trulli-chandhok colission in the end was quite funny xD
and lulz at schumacher passing alonso with sc out xD 20s penalty if i remember right... 12th instead of 6th or somesach

funney crash of redbulls :D too bad webber didnt spin out too ;(
and for mclarens, button was faster by the time he was trying to leapfrog hamilton, faster like 0.1-0.2s each sector! too bad hamilton reovertook him :(
kubica did a great job today but i think it was almost impossible to make it past rosberg, renaults and mercedeses match eachother really well these days. also rosberg is an outstanding driver.
and saubers getting higher and higher! they must be very proud of their new chief engineer key who they hired recently. he seems to be a great engineer, at first wheeled force india so high, then moved to sauber and he clearly helps them!
for our brilliant polish commentators.. no comment
