Yes, that's truly good music! I really like how they put jazzy elements in there, also in the album after that.

ofc 80s king diamond everything else is obsolete. strong thrashy progressive death metal sound and immersive stories. that fucking laroque guy must be the most underrated guitar raper/shredder of all time

as for lyricless calm music theres has been plenty i have stumbled upon. plenty from 70s and before. even noname crap with few thousand jutjub views are great all the time. and you can find those songs endlessly, even got bored of searching for them

And for another horrifying classic: the four seasons by vivaldi, I never listened this more than a couple of times, and with this audio system here, I suddenly hear the fine basses coming through. Pretty good music actually.

ye may be best, max for sure, depends on what's the border between early and not early ;) if '71 is early then tarkus and meddle ez better, i'm thinking that maybe even days of future passed better, and that's '67 :)

early is before '72 i guess, because then "close to the edge" was released and is clearly the best since then.

REX!!!
REX!!!
REX!!!
REX TREMENDAE MAJESTATIS!!!

Man, Mozart's Requiem is one epic piece of perfection.

We preform one requiem annually. First year was Gabriel Fauré (whose requiem I'm using as a template for my own). Second year was Michael Haydn (the one in C minor). And this year it's Maurice Duruflé. lately I've listened quite a lot to the latter, and it's possibly one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Also, the final chord in the last movement is a major 9th... Crazy basterd!

Duruflé: Requiem (in F# mixolydian), op. 9 - IX. In Paradisum

We also perform one requiem each year, and last year we also did Fauré. We arrange this by ourselves, the university isn't much of a partner with us (just a tiny bit of money). I heard Duruflé twice before, but always found it boring. With an orchestra instead of with organ sounds less static though. Something to consider for next year. Don't know Haydn's, will give it a listen.

Duruflé isn't as exciting as Verdi, but that's also the point. The whole thing has very strange harmonies, and melodies. He chose to emphaise on the "eternal rest" part, so naturally it's quite peaceful. I thought it was a it boring at first too, but if you just relax and listen it's very beautiful.

When you listen to Haydn you will definetly hear things that are almost identical to Mozart. It seems very much like Mozart used Haydn as a template for his own requiem.

Fauré is the best requiem I've ever heard, listened a bit to that too lately. Sublime.

And then there's Genesis, who I've been listening even more to than usual because of my paper.

Nice. Thanks

SOAD is only Toxicity for me TBH. There were few other songs from different albums like BYOB or Sugar, but I can't listen to them for too long, although I will probably play them today again. :D

Recently I listen to:

Pearl Jam and generally Kelly Slater Pro Surfer soundtrack Very good music to play in the background, while doing other stuff.
Kasabian
Besite Boys
Kill Bill Vol. 1 Soundtrack (Vol. 2 is a bit worse)
After watching one of FIA F1 reviews 2008 or 7 I rediscovered MUSE
Other F1 related song(The Chain), listen to around 3:00, one of my favourite guitar solos.
and more Pearl Jam :)
