Is there a term for "false decade" then? I know that technically you're right, but I still want to have some way to refer to 2020-2029 instead of 2021-2030, as the first feels aesthetically neater.

Actually no mila, decades, centuries and millenia are counted as 2010-2019, 1900-1999 and 1000-1999, they're an exception to the usual way of counting stuff like this.

Hmm, source? Is this based on some dictionary definition or what?

Whaaat, is it even a question? What do you refer to if you say "nineties"?
then again i don't know anything
maybe easier not to think abouut alöl things thought than not things thought ... or something..=?

Usually 1990-1999, but I thought that's technically incorrect?

At least one problem with counting this way is that it means the first decade consisted of only 9 years since there was no AD 0. Seems pretty weird to have an incomplete decade.

Look it up anywhere. It's used so commonly (both decades and centuries) that it would be extremely impractical to count it the "technically correct" way.

both are correct! It only depends on the words you use to describe decades.
