Anyone investing? By what style? I'll tell mine if there is anyone to share with. I've got some stats (in Finnish though) in my blog: http://www.pulu.org/blog/category/personal/investment/

I was thinking about this just a few days ago. I wouldn't know where to start though and with what amount. Not that I have like 10k laying around, but would a thousand do?

1000e is ok but then you probably shouldn't buy anything from stock market (stocks, ETF etc.) because usually the commissions (at least in Finland) are 5-10e per buy action and a rule of thumb says that commissions should be 1 % at max so you could buy only 1-2 stocks/ETF which is not good for diversification. So I guess some fund trust would be better but I know only about Finnish funds so I can't help you more. But beware that "normal" banks are always cheating you and you want to minimize the expenses the "bank" takes. Don't walk to bank and ask their opinion but research by yourself in web.

In case you are ready to read a book, my recommendation goes to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Random_W ... all_Street . I've read about 10 books and that is one of the best.

I've been holding/trading cryptocurrencies for almost 4 years now. Was originally all in on Bitcoin but later diversified into another two who can stand their own with or without Bitcoin around - Ethereum and Monero, both of which have done amazing lately. Seen a good enough growth to start thinking about diversifying further outside of the realm of cryptos but not sure how to go about finding a stock that's undervalued.

I guess I don't really know much about any sector other than tech, so probably best to stick to companies dealing with disruptive technology (which I have started out with in the form of cryptocurrency anyway) - maybe AI, Internet of Things, robotics and self-driving car technology companies. I'm also probably more interested in slightly higher risk - higher reward opportunities, which I'm used to anyway. So - what next? How do I figure which stocks are worth investing in? Is getting in on an IPO for a new company a potentially good idea? I've been following a few companies on Crunchbase, are there any other good sites to use for research on a wide range of companies?

Bought 100 dollars worth of bitcoin today. Crazy to think that if you bought 100 dollars of bitcoin in 2010 it would be worth millions today. If more major businesses start investing and accepting cryptocurrency, it is going to take off on a global level. I see this happening because the younger generation is so internet savvy already and are more likely to buy things over the internet.

This Tuesday I will invest 5 figures in the crowdfunding of this: http://status.im/
A very in-demand product, solid team, vision, and great marketing approach - that's a win in my book.
More than 10000 people on their Slack already, the hype is real.

So status is a user friendly app where you can spend your cryptocurrency? Is the contribution to status an investment or just you using it as a wallet? If the contribution is an investment then how so? Doesn't look like you are buying stock or currency. I'm interested but I don't fully understand right now.

I ended up splitting my 100 into bitcoin and ethereum, just because of all the hype with it right now and the publication of this app.

Contributors of ETH will receive Status tokens (SNT) in return. The planned functions of the tokens will include governance of the Status client, a Decentralised Push Notification Market, Community Curation of Content, Fiat-to-crypto ‘Teller Network’, DApp Directory, Sticker Market and other features such as Tribute to Talk. They will also help to drive the Status User Acquisition Engine.

So users could require SNT be paid to them to receive information they did not request. So it will definitely work as a store of value/currency as long as there's demand for it and, looking at the list of use cases plus future potential as more DApps get integrated into the platform, I think there will be plenty of demand.

Okay so basically trading one currency (ether) for another currency (SNT), but the app offers services that can only be used with SNT, and therefore has the potential to make SNTs rise in value?

Yes. However, the crowdsale seems to be handled pretty poorly technically. My transaction from over 3 hours ago is still not confirmed and I'm not very confident it will go through. The token issuance cap was probably hit within minutes from the start and a handful of rich people snatched them all so I'm just waiting for the transaction to be rejected.

At that point my portfolio will consist of 80% Ethereum (ETH) and 20% Golem (GNT). I did own Monero, Augur, Litecoin and ZCash briefly but would have seen better gains if I had just went all in on ETH instead.

I have most in ETH right now, I expect it to do well with these new apps. I want to buy ripple but am having some problems not being able to trade USD for them, frankly I'm a little upset since I spent an hour working on it and then gave up and next thing I see is that it went up 13% today. Any easy to use sites you know of to buy them from?

I use Bitstamp to buy BTC which I then transfer to Poloniex to buy other currencies and tokens.

I enjoy day trading cryptos. Trading is a game against the person you are either buying from or selling to. The seller believes price is going down, the buyer believes price is going up, only one is right. If you are right more often than wrong, you make money.

Now, so far i have been right more often than wrong. I sell when i need to and buy when i should correctly like 60 percent of the time. So far i have been following number analysis that strictly follows trends and do mathematics, they does not follow news or psychology.

However, i feel bitcoin's main driver is crowd psychology. I want a website that gathers all news stations around the world and gathers all news on cryptos and ranks the news from 1 to 10 everyday. 10 being good news and 1 being bad news, if the number is over 5, i feel the general crowd sentiment of the day is bullish and the price will rise. More weight should be applied to a news outlet that has more people looking at it. If the general crowd sentiment of the day is low we sell. Is there an analyst who forecasts day to day trading based off of crowd psychology like this? I want an analyst who turns the global psychology of the day into something mathematical and objective, i think it could make you rich.

Don't wanna ruin the elevated mood here, but that's exactly what financial corporations do every day. Spoiler: they get rich.

they use standard machine learning algorithms and of course don't publish their training model
once all players on the market are doing that, it become part of the system and you can retrain a readjust..
in any case, for an average guy, investing randomly on the market is like playing black-jack with your cards shown to the casino

I think the most successful people in bitcoin don't just predict trends, they actually create those trends themselves with careful dumps, rumors which are spread by fake accounts, sneaky cooperation, etc.

Kuchitsu, maybe you are right about that, it would be cool to be apart of that circle of people creating the trends. I am just mediocre success with trading, I follow the analysis of this guy:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin- ... is-july-27

He tells you at what point to either buy or sell, he doesnt use news to make his recommendation, he just uses math and moving averages. This is not ideal, but it is enough to make you money over the long term. I believe to step up my game i need to start thinking more about an analysis of what the global media is saying about crypto, hence why in my initial post i was wondering if anybody knows of any analysis out there like that that.
