Well if we are talking about computer uptime my records are:
Desktop computer running Windows 2000: 130 days
My fileserver/firewall/router running Linux (debian): ~150 days
Internet connection uptime I have no idea...
Anyone with better uptime record with Windows I wonder?

Whats the point of turning your comp off? exept saving energy (which doesnt save that much money does it, and the comp heats the house at the same time
) it's no real use of turning it off if you use it very much ;X
Windows XP uptime: 3wks 1day 13hrs 50mins 48secs (Record: 3wks 1day 13hrs 50mins 48secs) Mirc uptime: 2wks 2days 5hrs 57mins 8secs (Record: 2wks 2days 5hrs 57mins 8secs)
my internet connection is mongo and pings out leik 10 times in a row leik 1h/day.

If you have mirc put this in remote:
Code: Select all
on *:start:{ .timer 0 60 /ut }
alias ut {
if ($uptime(system,3) > %wRecord) || (!%wRecord) {
set %wRecord $uptime(system,3)
}
if ($uptime(mirc,3) > %mRecord) || (!%mRecord) {
set %mRecord $uptime(mirc,3)
}
}
alias uptime {
ut
$1 Windows $os uptime: $uptime(system,1) (Record: $duration(%wRecord) $+ ) Mirc uptime: $uptime(mirc,1) (Record: $duration(%mrecord) $+ )
}
menu channel {
Uptime
.Say: uptime say
.Echo: uptime echo
}
Got this from zrex :*

There's a good point to turn off your computer. Nothing lasts forever, and having the computer turned on for weeks doesn't help.
And nobody uses a computer 24/7... ok if someone does... Then that person should really tey getting a life...

Write /uptime in mirc or right click in some channel to get menu and choose uptime and one of the options under that.

To my knowledge powering on computer consumes some of the components much more than just letting them be powered 24/7.
I don't shut down my computer unless it's special occasion like going away for a couple of days or so. But I don't sleep in same room with it either, otherwise I would turn it off.

My PC fans are very silent so that doesn't bother even though I'm sleeping 2 m away from it.

Record: 2 weeks, 1 day, 7 hours, 21 mins and 21 secs.
I have my laptop on lamost 24/7. But I bring it to school so have to turn off twice a day. This record was set in christmas holiday. Desktop way to noisy to have on when I sleep. Laptop luckily almost soundless.

ye, biggest reason for leaving it on 24/7 is torrent ratio.
had power shortage last night, had PC on for about 12 weeks.

on this winxp machine my current record is 2wk 4d.. but i just reinstalled xp so can't remember what's my alltime record..
and my win2000 machine has been up for about 3 months now..
i don't usually turn my computer off at all.. the short uptime is almost always because of installing some program or drivers that need rebooting..
