skintatious.net > back in new form \o/

Post by skint0r »

My elma site has been rather dead the last year, as the lazyness bug always ends up killing my updating spirit at some point no matter how much I'd like to update. Not wanting my levels to die completely, I figured enough is enough and started working on a new site that wouldn't need too much work or maintenance from myself.

So, woho! The new site is now basically up and running. There are still a few small features I would like to implement, but I was too anxious to release the site and couldn't wait. For instance the links page is completely empty as of yet, and there will be some more information about each user and levels etc.

http://www.skintatious.net/ \o/

Mega bingo thanks to milagros for helping me with the code for getting information from .rec files, and also to Viper_KillerGuy for helping me with my PHP problems I encountered.

The site along with the idea is absolutely awesome and done very well. I'm so amazed and thrilled I want to make some records! That been said I will probably fail miserably but it's always fun to be excited.

This site is awesome. It's good to have your records updated instantly. And first level I played, I got the best time for it. :D

OMG! Excelent work, nice layout, and very intuitive site.

And some commets:
It seem that players with no nationality does not get to the master list (like toringe and matte) ? Would also be very nice with some more stats, like team points and nationality points, but keep it nice and clean like now!

Those that don't show up in master list hasn't registered yet, Matte, TorInge and a few more is still a part of the "old" database, and I can't move their records to the new format until they've signed up, hopefully they'd bother to do it sometime :).

And there will definitely be some more stats later on, as well as some sort of stats.elastomania.ru type of compare system. Not sure how many would use it or care, but it would be fun to make either way.

I always like sites with more stats than just top1 times. This one truly fits the competition spirit of us kuskis. I mean, I'd like to play some levels, and eventhough I can't get a best time, it's nice to see the time written online.

In spite of your lazyness, you're pulling of some nice things skint.

Did same for me...
Try clicking Register in the paragraph below...
Then it works...
And you are in the users list ...

EDIT : Tried it with Firefox... There are now pictures over each sections ( which weren't there with Explorer ) and everything works perfectly...

EDIT2 : The login page ( with Explorer ) works randomly

"easy" is sort of a relative term, but to the average kuski, probably not. I'm hoping I don't really have to deal with any cheating attempts.. I don't check every rec, but I at least check the best times. I'll probably do some random intervals of complete cheat checking, if possible.

The script does a basic check to see if the replay matches the lev, that's all. I have absolutely zero tolerance for cheating in my levels, I hope I won't have to do anything :\.

On the front page where there are "newest records" I would find it better if it was written that what position is the new time on that particular level.

For example "Sk120 2nd 0:41,47 FIN dz [FM] Today"

That way we could see the coolest improvements quickly.

I think its more normal to show time different from leader instead of one position better time.

Hmhmhm ok, I fixed that, I originally thought it was better with diff to next time so you could see how much you need to improve to get better place, but then again you could just look at the time he has instead I guess uah.

Yay I know what you mean but I honestly think this is better.

Anyhow I just got to praise the whole site. The overall feeling just shines 'perfection' to me. Just amazing. Only the response time was very slow a moment ago I browsed some pages but I guess that's temporary.

I think this site should have a master list for teams. That would make things so much better. And maybe nations too. I just hope you bother to add those, and that if you do it's not too hard for you, skint.
