The effects of iTunes on elma
It has been said before many times that running Quicktime in the background when playing Elma improves grip and other stuff.
Today I was playing some Hi Flyer while listening to iTunes and noticed that the bounce was quite easy. Then later, with iTunes closed, I played some more and couldn't make bounce once. An example is this
So I decided to test it with iTunes open, and first try got this.
If you merge you can see I did pretty much identical moves, but only with iTunes on did it bounce properly.
So just a thought for those of you who want a bit better bounces, or a generally more vsync-OFF feel, maybe try running iTunes in the background. Maybe it has other effects too, test and see.

Well QuickTime did help me... but not sure if it did help my grip or bounce... Only that it got the game to run much smootherdz wrote:You know, for some reason I find this subject very hilarious. What's next, Adobe Acrobat Reader gives you better volts?
Itunes has only made the game lag more. So no help.
(all of this is on my laptop. Haven't been using these programs on my normal computer)

I always burn cd's with Nero when battleing, that helps especially in the last minute. And I have noticed that if I have Mario Forever in the background, it makes level designing much easier. But if I want some internal feeling to my levs, I use some older game in the background, like Prehistorik2 (8-ball )

funny that you have gone around wondering that and still not have tried the easiest way of getting to know: google
No regrets

The effect of Quicktime on my previous computer was quite noticable, it had appr. the same effect as the program ElmaXP.exe (on WinXP). Before I knew about ElmaXP, it was the only way for me to get smooth movement in Elma on WinXP (like on Win98).
(Also, the effect is slightly different from ElmaXP)
The explanation might not be that strange, the Quicktime codec driver probably uses hardware acceleration (even when idle, for some reason), thus running it affects the graphics driver and thereby the framerate of Elma.

Well KyJelly have you tested iTunes on/off using darmoed's vsync.lev ?? With iTunes closed my wheel slides through the hole every time. Then the next minute I can open up iTunes and the wheel gets locked and i die to the killers. Maybe this effect is unique to my computer, I don't know.
