Triple Jump: 12.23m (I'm 14)

I went to states today, and I placed 5th in my state, beating EVERYONE in my school, and all 14 years in my region, I beat our school age record by 1.44m

I also completed the second best jump ever in our school, the best being 12.92m (17 years)

but yeh, I kickass.

EDIT: look how high I am over the officials' head! :D

Is yours called Athletism??

Post by Pocho »

Gentlemen, no offence, but I have to say that you better continue playing elma. In Argentina we are not specialized in Athletism but...

100mts: 12.4 sec
Long Jump: 5.16 mts
Triple Jump: 11.01 mts
High Jump: 1.73 mts
Javelin Throw: 31.7 mts
...and the best of all:
Pole Vault: 2.71 mts School Record. (does anyone even practice this one?uh?)

Bye,

PD: 2 School Records, made in a Nationwide Tournament.

I've been training 100 m for about a year now. I do it on my own and I am getting better fast. I have no record only estimated times. A friend once manually timed me 11,70 but found out later that you should always add .2 to your time when you manually time. My goal is to get down to 10.x If I work hard enough maybe I can do it!

So ye, I started running like month ago.
At first i only wrote down estimated lenght of my routes around neighbourhood, but after I've downloaded app for it, it became much better experience. I use https://www.endomondo.com/home atm, it tracks time, route on map, personal records, u can share it with ppl u know.. Basic cool stuff.

I consider myself a beginner. My goal today was to run 5 km <30 min, but after some time i realized it ain't gonna be that hard. I mean I feel kinda exhausted, but I did it quite "easily"

new pr (soon to be broken too, hopefully): 5km - 28:21.

I aim for <27 min now, after some math and evaluating my reserves. I will not share bullshit. Just stuff I am happy with.
It is cool to see some progress :)
Also I do this because I decided I want to lose some weight (as I wrote in some other topic)

When it comes to running I recommend that dont measure time/distance, for me at least measuring some times/distances makes me try too hard and if i try too hard then the whole exercise goes upside down, it doesnt remove stress, but instead increases it. For my the best method has been to just stick to 120ish pulse and dont care about any times or distances, keep trying new routes.

if i have to say some rekord here then i gues last sumer i ran 12-13km in some 1.10-1.15, no idea because i dont measure. But i know prety well that 6min/km is on the limiter for my, 6.30min/km is nice chill, anything below <6min/km goodbye next night sleep. As a scary coment im still recovering from very tryhard 12km run i did in october, panicking for 4 monts and still not sleeping well. Ofc i had some other problems in life and too much exercise was just a triger for snowball effect. Same happened in 2012 after very hard exercise, panic for a full year, enjoy. I have a very wandering mind and im quite sure joging since 2008 has made it worse, mind gets extremely active in endorphin high, and when the high dissipates there is always few hour heavy depression time after 20h from exercise, however the mind keeps wandering and wandering, creating its own illusions and sidestories, that might lead to all kinds of mental problems. But anyway im just babling, the whole point is that exercise should remove stress, not increase it.

You guys are lucky, I tried jogging a bit this spring\summer and it was always hard even after just about 2-3 km. I was hoping that eventually I'll get stronger and it will become a pleasant activity but no, it was always like ahh ahh, it's hard to breathe, my legs hurt, I so want to stop right now, etc. Maybe I'm just that weak from leading a very oldman-like life for many years and I need much more time to become stronger, I don't know. Also for some reason I never figured out how to breathe properly, it always felt weird and uncomfortable somehow, like I just couldn't find a natural breathing rhythm. I don't want to end this post on a negative note so I'll also say that it was usually kinda satisfying to overcome the pain and also imo there is a very nice atmosphere when you're running in a park and your mind is so far away from your usual thoughts and worries.

Right now I'm not doing anything because, I dunno, jogging during cold winter sounds too shitty somehow. Maybe I'll try again in March.

Only stuff I can remember is 1.65 highjump (made in senior high school) and 4.45 longjump (made in 4th - 6th grade). Could prolly beat both but I have no opportunities anymore. I sux at long distance running and long distance swimming. Don't know any times in short distance dito. Also sux in throwing stuff.

Last May I signed up for the annual 5 km run organised by our town. I never tried to run 5 km before, so just went full yolo there. It was 31°C hot sunny day. No sunglasses. No water. I was coming a bit late to the place, so I had to run from home to get there (about 1.5 km). Luckily there was some water to take every round (run had 3 rounds). I forgot to take water after first round.
My friend (who is pro triathlonist and jogger) measured the distance and said the run had 5.3 km.
My time was 26:54.

Hopefully it will be much better next year.

My friend's time was freaking 16:36.

ran 10km for the first time in my life today. Quite slow tempo (6,24 min/km), it was very pleasant. This one girl motivated me, she mentioned she ran 10km last year easily. And she was right, it wasn't rly anything hard, just find your pace, do not overdo it in first few minutes. I gotta try a bit harder next time, tho. Dudes from my football team have like 5,0 min/km and even better.

Just wanted to post here, maybe I can motivate someone too. With music (or maybe audiobook) it is max fun.

Ran 5km again after a year (without any training, in a hot day) - 26:00
After 3.5 km I almost puked, so had to take a 100m walk to refresh and then I finished with ease.

Swimming season is starting, so I will track my stats, mostly 1000m, 2000m and 2500m breaststroke, plus single-breath length (currently 40m or so)

Quickly spied endomondo and saw that my best 5km time is 21:41. That was 3 years ago and I was running a bit more then than now, but should be ez better still. Sth like 23 ez if you manage to resist pausing halfway through :D that's always the hardest part for my!

Out of curiosity, what's your best 1km time? Apparently it's 3:42 for me. I used to run in the 4.0x in high school and was wondering how that one classmate keeps doing <3.30 :S then tried once at uni and did that 3:42, seemed like such a short distance after running only ~5km for a couple of years :o

Those two were my strong points too.
High jump was around 1.50, sure not awesome, but it was above class average.
No idea about standing long jump distance. We did that few times only. I didn't like normal long jump as i was pretty bad in that. Same with running.
