come on it's an extremely fun contest. it's pseudo music at its very best. the extreme thing about eurovision is that this kind of music isn't on the charts anymore at all, but still it keeps living on in eurovision. last year was really really good, i don't think there ever will be as good a eurovision as last year, but you can always hope.

The Alternative Festival (the opposite of the "schlagerfestivalen", which it's called here in Sweden) is the, or was the, only music thingy worth watching. You can't say no to Nationalteatern - Doin the omoralisk schlagerfestival.

I Might just have the votings on in the background, but watch it, I won't.

To me this would feel like watching blind people soccer in the parlympics, Only that these contestants has crippled music senses. :O

There has been a semifinal since 2004.

If a country places in the top10 of the previous year's final, it is directly qualified to the next year's final. Otherwise, it must first participate in the semifinal and hope to be qualified from there. Except Germany, France, Spain and UK though, who are always qualified for the final no matter their placement.

I hate this contest even more if they are so desperate for viewers they have to guarantee the countries with big population a place, even though it's really unfair towards the smaller countries. Stupid persons who doesn't care about anything else than money.. ;/

Well if that was the case wouldn't they want the big nations in semi final, so that in case they qualify for final the big nations will play twice and there will be more viewers in both semi and final.

Stupid east europe! Almost all 10 songs who went to the final were shit. More like bottom 10 than top 10!

Hmm.. more like nearly all the Western-European songs were shit...

All the three best songs went through: Hungary (easily the best song!), Moldova and Serbia. And the two worst songs did not get through: Denmark and Portugal.
Two shit songs did get through to the final though; Slovenia and Latvia.

When the Western-European countries only send really bland, standard eurovision songs (Netherlands, Denmark, Portugal, Norway) you can't expect them to go through.

All in all I'm quite happy with the result, though instead of Slovenia and Latvia I'd have picked Malta and Andorra, and possibly Austria instead of Turkey.

I had hoped for some grindcore, but I haven't heard any of you talking about such, so I assume it wasn't there.

Kinda mongo thing is that people mostly vote for their neighbours regardless of the music/show.

I think that's kinda natural because they can maybe better understand the language, and it's more same kinda music culture ect.
