Elma Done (fairly) Quick v2 help needed
Moderator: Moporators
Well thanks to Zweq and John for sharing a few more recs, the totaltime is now 36:22,45, almost a 10 second improvement from the last update. Can't share the times/recs just yet, but they are quite nice, look forward to seeing them.
Anyway, just about finishing up with stuff now, so I guess this is semi-last call for sharing any more replays. A DVD version is looking less likely to be made right now, but I will make a big matroska file with lots of soundtracks and high quality video at the very least, together with the smaller avi versions.
As it looks now, these version will be made:
~4.4gb mkv 800x600 29.97fps xvid, all soundtracks
1.4gb avi 800x600 29.97fps xvid, max 4 soundtracks (avi container limit)
700mb avi 800x600 29.97fps xvid, ~2 soundtracks
350mb avi 640x480 29.97fps xvid, 1 soundtrack
~100mb avi ???x??? 29.97fps xvid, 1 soundtrack with mega suck quality
Any other suggestions or requests?
Hopefully mila can convert the constfps.exe to the newest Elma version used for Ballelma so that I can also create a sick quality x264 720p 60fps version, should look nice in that case.
If anybody has songs they might want included in the video, send them to me on IRC and they'll be considered for inclusion. Right now there will at the very least be 4 soundtracks; metal, pop/rock, electronica and hip-hop. Hopefully Luther gives sign of life and blesses us with a commentary track as well. Would be nice if somebody else would like to do one as well, but I'm guessing that's not happening.

Ran into a problem today while making pcx files for the 720p version. Problem is that the constfps patch was made with 1.11hb, which seems to mess up grass/textures when using zoom. I don't think mila is going to make a 1.2 version of it, so the question is this: which way is better, zoom with ugly grass and textures, or no zoom but far viewing distance?
Here's a comparison of grass problems that might happen in some levels: http://up.k10x.net/epvporkurxxlw/zoom-vs-grass.jpg
And here's another example of the first texture problem I ran into: http://up.k10x.net/gidiktnuycwtp/sn2855.png
So for those of you with any interest in a 720p version (are there any at all?), what do people think is the best option?

make mila do teh anyway, otherwise no zoom. It's a movie it has to look nice.
No regrets

I figured out how to fix texture problem. Kinda easy and should have noticed straight away when I ran into problem, but I just removed the mask pictures from LGR, so now it's only semi-ugly grass that ruins zoom. And this is only for the 720p in case you didn't notice.
Still not sure what's better, zoom and semi-ugly grass, or no zoom at all. Not too much opinions yet, so guess I decide myself and you can whine after the movie's done instead.

Still it is a movie and i think it has to look professional then, so i say rather no zoom than ugly grass. But still doesn't matter too much.
No regrets

Yeah Agree. Now I'm in a phase where I like levels without grass, but elma does indeed have nice graphicsdz wrote:I played without grass for a long while but last two years or so I've appreciated nice grass and graphics. Elma has very beautiful graphics after all... as long as I can put the pictures on background.niN wrote:No grass is best
Team HotHorses, and I'm converting to Icelandian now...
35mins and you will make teh? What are the most problematic levs? Worst current replays compared to WRs?

There is going to be a replay playing during the credits in the video, so if you don't have internal skills you still have a chance to get into the movie. There will be a battle sometime later today (in about 6hrs time) on the level that will be used, so the best replay I get will be used in the movie (not just during the battle mind you, you'll have a few days to höyl it).
