Well... I really don't know... I hate my nick, but think it's unnecessary to change it. Maybe you can say ksomas, or maybe it's best just not to say it at all... :wink:

I thought it was pronounced like "chomas" where 'ch' is pronounced like in (Johann Sebastian) "Bach", you know that rolling ugly sound...

PS. Woooo! this is my first 2-page topic!

At first i thought of mrickx as "Mr. Rix", but when i saw there was only one 'r', i changed to "Mr. Ix".

DarMoeD - Dar-Moe-Dee -> Since it's really DMD the 'i' sound after the last 'D' must be said.

pajen - pa-yen " ('a' as in 'father', actually, pajen is swedish for "the pie" :P )

dz - dezz

m0nkeii - mon-keyyyyy :wink:

Chuckles, isn't 'Syff' and 'Syph' prononuced identically?

DarMoeD - Dar-Moe-Dee -> Since it's really DMD the 'i' sound after the last 'D' must be said.
His nick isn't really DMD, it's really DarMoeD. Your pronounciation could be right anyway, I'm not sure.

About Ciph: I'd think it's somewhere between Cyph and Ciph.

What I meant was, since it's based on DMD, it should be like that.
or maybe it should be "Dar-Moe-Da", cause I think 'D' is pronounced like 'da' in russian...

WkE wrote:this is my most wanted list : TorInge (inj or in-geh ?), DarMoeD (mo-ed or mowd ?), SveinR (svey-ner, S-veiner etc.), dz (dee-zee or dee-zed), psy (psa-ee, sa-ee), pajen (page-en, pa-jen), Jokke (jo-keh, jok), Jeppe (Jep-peh, jep), Balazs (balas, balatz) Rosza (rossa, rotza), ciph (keef, seef)........
TorInge: his name is Tor Inge, so you pronounce the names seperately. Tor should be obvious, Inge is In-geh. During regular speech the two names will usually be pronounced as one name.
DarMoeD: DarMoeD is (sort of) how DMD is pronounced in Russian written down. It's Dar-Moed I think.
SveinR: His name is Svein Rune, so the R is pronounced separately. Svæyn-R. The letter æ is pronounced like the a in the English word 'man'. The Norwegian pronunciation of R is 'err'.
dz: No one knows. Maybe 'deh-see', 'dee-see', 'dee-zed', etc. dz is a truncation of his former nick, Dezz. Maybe that helps.
psy: The p is silent. Sayh.
pajen: Imagine that the j is an i or a y. Payh-en.
Jokke: Again, the j is like a y. Yook-eh.
Jeppe: Yet again, y. Yep-eh.
Balazs Rozsa: Just Balass Rossa.
ciph: Either siph or syph.

I might be a bit off on some of them, and they have probably been mentioned earlier in the thread.

Your'e Norwegian just like TorInge, so you probably know better than me, but as far as I know there is no audible 'g' in the name 'Inge' just the 'ng' sound. (Very hard for foreign people, especially Englishmen / Americans, to say)

Ye...I say it like that (wish I could explain better, like if I could write some phonetic signs.

But the pronounciation of it probably varies in different parts of the country.

well it's quite obvious how my nick is pronounced but for those few uncertain let me help.

a=kgz
n=en
t=o
Z=n

so it's like Xenon but with the x being pronounced a bit more g-ishness in it. the k is not strong, just bringing a little sharpness. the z makes the end s in x softer and warmer.

Yes, I agree. I know there's a phonetical character for that sound. The theoretically correct way to pronounce it might be with a normal 'g'-sound, but whenever you actually pronounce the word it will turn out as that tricky 'ng' sound.

sonic_fruit:

ah-byoo-la - Probably more like ah-boo-la. Maybe that's what you meant.
yeh-per, yoh-ker - These are correct. There's no pronounced 'r' in the end of course.
rye-bot - I'm thinking more like 'ree-bot', with a very short 'ee' sound. Sort of like the sound frogs make.
tor-inj - This is wrong. See above.
svine-arr - This one is ok. Not exactly right, but you'll get by.
p-sye - It's common practice to not pronounce p in the start of a word. Of course, you can pronounce it the way you want to in your head
pah-jen - The j should be the same sound as the j in Jeppe or Jokke. Like an English y.
siff - That's fine.

MGen (emdjen) - English pronunciation rules say that a 'g' followed by the letter 'e' should be pronounced "softly", so em-jen (emdjen) is probably right.
ZiuteK (siuteck) - That looks right.
Dime (dajm or daim) - Like the word 'dime' (or the chocolate Daim) I guess.
H2o2manden (I dont have a clue about this one) - H2O2 is pronounced in whatever way the chemical formula for hydrogen peroxide is pronounced in your language. H-Two-O-Two. 'manden' is Danish for 'the man' (H2O2manden means 'The H2O2 Man', go figure :P). There's no distinctly pronounced 'd' in manden, and the 'a' is like the a in the English word 'car'.
TGabee (tigaby or tigabi) - I have no idea. I usually think 'Tee-Gabee', but it could be anything for what I know.
