Belma on Vista

Post by Mawane »

As I said earlier, I buyed a new computer kit. But Belma has a problem on this computer. Everytime I open Belma, after a few minutes, the screen is like if it was disconnected from the computer and I must restart it. I simply know that it's not about the screen because I had same error with old screen, but new computer. Please help me because working belma it's the only condition I want.

What do you mean 'like it was disconnected'? does it go black, freeze or colors go weird? Anyway my guess is thtat it's some graphic thing that's wrong. Maybe check if you have newest driver for your gfx card ect.

That sounds quite odd (: Your gfx card or something must be fucked :b it doesn't happen in other games ect? (not that I have any idea what to do)

What card is it? maybe I can find the driver

My guess: your monitor does not support the resolution that you have configured in belma configuration.

dz is probably right. it happens often that the resolution goes wacky after setting it. for example, I have 1024 x 768, and when I have a brief test with a smaller resolution and change it back, it somehow ends up at 1024 x 576 or something like that. So be sure to check that.

for screen, already tested with another screen, but same problem
about the gfx card, in 2nd xiph link:
denis763 wrote:Bad News, i just got a new Video Card. A NVidia Geforce FX 5200 (256MB RAM, AGP). I uninstalled old drives, installed the ones that came with the new vid. card. I tried looking for it again and the only 2 things i found is some say it could be the power supply or that it uses IRQ11 like my PCI USB 2.0 Card. I got a new Powersuply when this problem started so that can't be it. I tried moveing the USB 2.0 Card into different PCI slots but it still uses IRQ11, i tried takeing out the USB Card and uninstalling the drives for it but the screen still blinks black.
so i dont think its about it

further, they talk about motherboad bios, could it be the problem, i don't understand that part

IN MY OPINION it sounds like your overloading your gfx card a bit much. believe it or not, Elma is very strainous on PC's (fast moving pixels)

problem may be you aren't running on enough RAM (or RAM is wrong type) - MAKE SURE everything is plugged in perfectly lolz. i once had a computer problem where my processor chip wasn't actually plugged in, took us a month to work it out.

so yeah, how much ram are you running on? you need to remember that you can't MIX different types of ram, so if you have 2 sticks of ram, make sure they're both the same.

Does elma actually work on Vista or do you just have some unusual problem? Have others used elma on Vista I guess is what I'm asking?

this is because you are pressing escape to exit a run when you hit the right ctrl key, (default alo)

this causes start menu to come up, take you back to desktop.

i tried looking for my stats.txt files in the elastomaniaregistered directory, but i couldn't find. isn't belma meant to generate that file each time i play? if so, then why isn't it there, and how can i find it?
and another thing. i wanted to delete certain replays from the rec folder. but those certain .rec files were not there. i tried to show hidden files thinking that they were hidden, but still, nothing. when i run belma and go to replays i can see them in the list and they play when i select them. but why don't they show in the rec folder???
(i am running windows vista ultimate btw)

i just want to view my total time in stats.txt and delete those replays, but they're not there. something is not right.
someone please help me resolve this problem. i just don't get it.

well, belma automatically generates a stats.txt file everytime you exit the game so, it should be there.

and for the replays situation, i really don't get it... i mean, maybe you are looking in another elastomania folder. (in the case you have more than 1 elma folder)

no. i have only 1 folder. i can view some of the .rec files in the rec folder, but about 10 of them are just not showing (though they are in-game, aswell as all the others).
i did recently copy my old state.dat back. could that have done anything?

Do you have your elma folder under Program Files? If yes, vista file virtualization could cause of the problem.
