If you check the winner numbers there are always several numbers within the same group of tens: e.g. 12-21-23-24-27-43-44. So I tried this and got four numbers right, ticket costed me maybe 1.5euro, won some 10-20 euros.

My only lotto ticket I have bought if I recall correctly.

It's very true that lotto's expected value is negative but since in this case the likely losings are so insignificant but the possible winnings are life-changing, this maybe shouldn't be thought through the slight expected losings. You could also think it as a cheap hobby. So I would not judge the lottoers (I have never bought a lotto ticket myself though). Of course lottoing gets stupid if you really start investing money on that. But holding Finnish lotto monopoly is always pure win and wice thing to do.

And if you have enough money it's actually possible to earn with lottoing: buy every second lotto row every round. Your expected winnings are now horribly big and negative at single round but with enough time you will get long enough winning strike to get to the positive earnings and then you can stop. You ofc need unlimitedly money for this to be 100% sure to win so I don't recommend this to anyone. Maybe worth trying for Bill Gates.
