Really, penisgnome is most wtf member of lauta, 4 posts, 3 on guess the anime and the other here. I don't think he even knows elma.

But this is true, Smibu has made awesome programs, I forgot them because I never downloaded, too lazy

Designer: igge

It seems that igge drank some magic stuff and became a master in level making. Almost every battle lev he makes (also his TEH levs) is just great. This is of course only my personal opinion, but I see igges levs as the essence of elma levs nowadays. They are very playable, often finishable on the first try, still, amazing styles are to be discovered without ever disregarding the greatest joy of elma: cruising.

BIG UP!

I may be bias, but I definitely think Boneless's TEH04 win replay and time should be nominated. He beat the field by almost 2 seconds. Also such a unique style (dynamo).

Dynamo for over-all style finder. The guy finds insane, original styles on pretty much every level he plays. He makes levelmaking interesting! 8)

Saying that as an "absolute failure" is a failure. I wouldn't think of checking some old GAA thread for rules of this kind neither.

Yeah k0en has improved pretty much as a levelmaker I must say too, his labyrinth-like levels are very cool.

Other suggestions for levelmaker:

Ramone
Ramone has won this before and the only reason he would not be a candidate every year would be not making enough levels during the year. And this year he surely has, he finished Ram-pack and has made already few hundred always as sophisticated ones for One-pack.

bEAT
A surprise choise. Reliable style-rich very cool tijsjorish-like 15-40 sec long normal battle non-planned level maker. Level design always plain without grass or any pictures but at least for me the polygons are 99%. He has made hundreds of wyjeb levels but unfortunately he usually is too shy to start them prime-time.

Koopa
Omfg this guy is pure magic. Just check the attached file out. He makes those in a moment and barely needs to test them. Unbelieveable imagination. An another tijsjorisish levelmaker. Usually makes long normal levels, pipes or uphills but could bring making short normal battles to the new levels of awesomeness too with his coolest non-serious xD-attitude, which alone would deserve some prize.

Pab
Master at level decorating but polygons usually are coolness too. Apipes and the levelpack with animals are extremely awesome. Also he has made huuge amount of levels, just check the battlestarter stats by zebra. Time to reward that I think!

john - healthy "comeback" after being rather inactive due to studies, first under 36, cruising ez wrs when can be arsed, may I add, he does them very easily
raven - surprised all i think, nice with 4 new wrs in one table, it's always nice no matter how big the updating interval has got, has made biggest number of improvements this year unless im mistaken
jarkko - he should win something really. uphill battle wr is GREAT, ppl fail to understand how GREAT it is, ppl should be yelling in every topic how GREAT uphill battle wr is. go do tat plz

externmalist

stylz

lev

rec

wr

designer
ramone - often very nice balle levs, he leaves some random untested shit in his levs always which does the magic, he only checks the big picture that the lev has enjoyable flow and is finishable, but leaves the rest of the levmaking to the ballers, true hero of sandbox levels.
umiz - always nice balle levs minus a few. cant say i remember many umiz levels where hoyling flow dies at some point of the level. always feeling like lev is not in control of the player but vice versa

something else

Suggestion:

Should the "cup" section really be just cup? Better fitting would be "contest" so every type of contest is considered for a GAA not just cups. Example: PFE09 doesn't fit under the cup category and I wouldn't want it considered as a "cup" because it is definately far from that, it is an "External TT Contest". None the less it should still be allowed to be considered for a GAA. Also, what about level designing contests, elimination contests and whatever other original contest ideas may come in the future? They should all be considered under a single "contest" GAA section that includes cups along with all the other contests. Any thoughts on this?

Eh? There is no Cup category. The category is and always has been Contest. And it works just as you described it.

best designers in random order:
-Mawane (nice cup levs and lots of great botch and mw levs)
-Pab (awesome skills, i love Pobs and APipes)
-hehe (pretty new to the designing scene, however he is improving very quickly, levels are successfully becoming more playable, and, generally, awesome!)
-DreamHunter (fantastic the levels)
-k0en (still not run out of ideas, makes lots of cool kn levs)
-barryp (just like that, great hazpi levs and sick multistylish bplevs)
-Ramone (any explanation needed? ok, hundreds of Ram and One levs. and they are not some random shiats. just sick)

btw svein, when is 1st step of GAA09 going to start? last time it was 6th nov. :P

Re: GAA suggestions thread

Post by nick-o-matic »

You choose 10 candidates for each category don't you?

Internalist
Pretty obvious choises are Zweq, John, Raven, Kazan, Jarkko, Bjorn, Cap and talli imo (have made several WRs to different levels and also cool TTs). There still are three places left and at least adi, proDigy, Lukazz, Morgan and Madness have been doing good work.

Externalist
Externaling is bit dying away nowdays I think when people are playing battles and internals. But at least BoneLESS and Nightmar have been active with cups and adi with pipos etc. You should choose some cool fresh new active and keen (but maybe not that skilled yet) names here and not guys like Markku and axxu who you usually choose here even though they are very good externalists but I think they simply haven't played enough externals this year (well Markku has played at least some like igge mentioned but I don't know if it's enough).

Battler
The top three above others have been Zweq, Kazan and talli this year, and actually Zweq pretty much most from them. Also at least adi, Xiphias, GRob and Markku (I think he hasn't been that unactive with battles this year) are pretty obvious choises too I think. And again some fresh new names too please for rest of the names. =)

Rookie
This is always hard category when the definition of a rookie is such difficult. If Mielz is a rookie he should win this. And -Nico-o started elma pretty much at the same time with me and adi but he really have started belmaing this year so I guess you could take him too if he can be considered as a rookie (at least it shouldn't be matter of skills, he has been progressing pretty much).

Desinger
I already suggested some here (Ramone, bEAT, Koopa, Pab and k0en). But I must say that I had maybe the best elma moments this year with Nekit's FFs, I'm not only sure if his limiting to only FFs is a problem here. Then there's so much other good names too but with many of them there's a problem maybe not making enough levels this year (like Umiz for example). And please dont candidate me like k0en suggested, I don't feel pro enough levelmaker and I have hardly made 100 levs this year I guess. =) Some fresh new names from belma you could take.

Team
There's even not 10 active teams nowdays I think. So MiE has good chances to get candidated I think

WR
Jarkko's Uphill Battle. This should seriously win. But there's 9 more WRs to be nominated. I think since Zweq and John doesn't nowdays share their WR recs it's hard to say which ones are the best ones and you could maybe ask their opinions and take two from both. From the rest you could take Slalom and Steep from Raven, ZZ from Cap (last year Cap's ZZ won GAA and now it's even better so a must choise I guess), Framework from adi and from Kazan maybe New Wave and Sink.

Style
Well there really aren't that much new styles this year I guess at least not at internals. Published ones are at least Serpents tale (or not new but done first time this year) and Sink. Also Kazan published his new style at Shelf life this year though drove the WR last year so I don't know if it counts. From externals there really hasn't been that cool styles at least what I have seen. Maybe BoneLESS's style at some TEH cup level. But there will be problems to find 10 good ones here propably.

I guess you can't take recs published only in Youtube to here? At least talli's Serpent and some Raven's recs should be nominated but the recs are only there. If you asked they might publish them. Also you could nominate the Zweq's missed Hi Flyer rec. After those nominate of course some shared WRs etc.

Contest
There hasn't been so many contests this year really. Now at the autumn and winter there has been some kind of boom though (contests by Kopaka and Igge, Mawane, Thorze and Juish). Also I would really appreciate if you nominated the FF-cups though they are only belma contests =)

Contribution
-Smibu's stuff (not only Replay Manager you know)
-Kopaka's cup script and Kopasite
-zworqy for still keeping up the server

I suggest new GAA Award.

Biggest Jerk of The Year
Berh and Bjorn.

Bjorn for his endlessly ass shit fucktard of a hypocrisy of a nigger stream of train lvls, internals and winning own levels.

Berh for being Berh.

Yes I'm annoyed and angry. And yes, you will probably ask me to chill. But I'll tell you one thing first: HOW THE HELL CAN I CHILL WHEN THESE PEOPLE SMEAR SHIT ALL OVER MY FACE. Don't know if you guys like being shitfaced but I FUCKING DON'T.

kthxbye
