I guess I really wouldn't remember it ever, but then again I'm very rarely testing outside the editor. But then again I sometimes want to change something when I already have "finished" the lev, so pushing the button on and off over and over again randomly would be quite confusing and for nothing. And then again I'm often making thousands of shit levs just to test some other shit so those would get upped too because who wants to push buttons, really. Most of the nabs (what we many are) would not even consider pushing. I don't really like it, but mayke the button if no other solution is found. Or maybe, in the future, in 2029, we will just know the levels crc and can start for example \x05\xDE\x9C\x90!

You can chat and see battle status in editor in EOL, so as long as you're inside editor no need to go offline. Unless ofcourse if you're talking about ALE.

Kuskis overwrite their own levels, what is problem?

Also, appear offline should mean that your times are saved and not published + not in F7

Also kingy. <- Maybe controversial

I seriously dont understand whats the point of showing times in f7 while you are hidden. That makes you completely shown in cuplevs. ;o Would be cool to play cups or something online also.

If the lev is changed it is uploaded into another file.

one option is to have any levs by default locked if they are not in any lev packs and were not battled and played in cup
then someone (moderators? or admins only? or players, who played lev first?) will have teh right to change locked lev into unlocked
only unlocked levs would be possible to donwload evethough everything will be saved in teh db anyway

Well there's all old levels from before EOL that will be played by random ppl first and then suddenly they "own" those?

The way we talked about in eol channel yesterday was that you can tick a box and when it's ticked new levels are uploaded as locked to database, and when anyone plays the level with the box unticked the level is unlocked. (Then have a different lock function that makes the level not shown on the externals page on EOL site.)

This means designer can have it locked while he tests it and such, and they are saved as locked so no one can download them or see times. Then he sends me/mods message that he wanna hide them from externals page when he publish them, so when someone start playing them(with the box unticked) they are unlocked and downloadable on site/ingame and times shown at latest finishes, but still hidden on externals page on the site.

And if he want the pack as levelpack on EOL site he doesn't send me/mods that message so they are fully shown on the site, once he or someone else plays them with the box unticked.

I support Kopaka's solution \o
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

milagros wrote:there is one other issue with this :
every level you ever play is uploaded with its crc to the database
the problem is that if some lev creator is testing some pre-version of his levels outside editor and being online, all the versions of the level get saved (then the problem is if teh ingame lev download should donwload the first or last version)

any idea how to handle this?
I think a level definately shouldn't be uploaded to the database only if you play it in any case. Possiblities for all kind of accidents are too big. I think a good system would be that a level would be uploaded if you
1.) battled it - then it would become your level in the database and nobody would be able to battle a level with that name anymore and rewrite it
2.) uploaded it separately in the EOL site - then it wouldn't necessarily become your level (you could choose the person whose it is or select unknown maker)

Also it would be cool if for every level there were some comments section similiar to Kopasite's one. And for battled levels there were all the battle statistics (I think there are already).
