1. the problem is that elma prepares big pictures of the whole lev before you play.
then it just scrolls those pics. so ingame zoom would make big "lags" and it might be a pain to program for me. with or without the source a cool dynamic zoom would be a big change in elma.
2. that would be the easiest feature... if (1) and (3) were already made.
3. that would be possible. but don't count on me. i've finished MY patch. other porgrammers can continue it if they want to.
KD: it's as if i had the sources anyway, i read elma.exe as i would read a book

there code at the beginning is some kind of sum (first four bytes is sum of x and y values plus some random integer, second is plus sum of types...and so on)
so if you want to add a flower, put two killers(3+3) and change it to flower and apple(2+4)
changing apple and killer (2+3) to start and flower (1+4) would not work because elma somehow doesn't understand 2 starts..even for multis

Hello again! After the restart, it's like nothing ever happend. Everything's fine now. Don't know what happened. Maybe it was something else that did this, the download hadn't just started when the thirst message appeared.
I have Panda Titanium for Antivirus software BTW.

I tried converting one of MagnusB's wallpapers into a start screen for elma, but every kind of PCX i saved caused elma to exit after a grey or black screen. No error messages. Only the Intro12.pcx you included works, and original Intro.pcx renamed to Intro12.pcx.
I used same compression and pcx format as in Intro.pcx with the converted picture.

The bike was already made up of vertices. It was obviously best to do it that way to get the fluid animation. But since BÃ lazs apparently never intended to include other resolutions and zooms, he didn't see the need to make the objects with vertices.
I don't know a lot about vertex graphics, you're gonna have to ask Hibernatus or someone else.

MagnusB, you're right, when it's made for vectorizing it looks better.
But the problem in my patch is not that.
It's simply the fact that the bitmaps which were made for the objects and the pictures are only made for 640*480, while the kuski's bitmaps are made for something like 2000*1500 (i don't know at all, but huge resolution). And zooming out is less ugly than zooming in. Otherwise it would be the same problem for both.
I could make a patch that allows bigger object pictures, and it would be sweet for sure. But i won't, unless MUe re-renders his apple/killer/flower pictures (well i think i won't even if he does ).

Please, i'd like a some kuskis to test a new version, which hasn't any new feature, but is reorganized. It's a release candidate

One problem: many people (who don't read Mopolauta for example) don't know these are just beta-tests and they are using them as normal. We on Moposite don't guarantee that 1.2 or other versions will be on Moposite and accepted to use in Moposite lists (except 1.11hb).

As onla said, the intro screen is ugly enough to remind you of downloading the final version.
And it is impossible to tell whether a replay was made with 1.11a or 1.2. So don't scare people with that, they are the only ones who can decide what they use anyway (until the anti-cheat patch is released of course, but elma1.2 will be updated too).
When i annouced the features i wanted to add on the anti-cheat forum you said "now i like that". Now it's a bit too late to say "i don't want it"
So if you read the whole row you see I didn't want a public beta-testing.Abula wrote:Now I like this. One more thing, don't release them to public before talking here with us and good bug testing.

Hehe, indeed, i didn't remember the whole row.
But when you say you like features it's enough for me.
About the public beta version, the anti-cheat team is a poor beta testing team. Bugs found: 0. A public beta testing was necessary.
Anyway, if you tell me ou like the features i announce and then when i've finished you tell me i should forget it, how do you think i should react?
BTW,not accepting that patch would be just stupid. Tell me good reasons.
Well i don't know why i'm talking, the patch is already accepted anyway

I am new here
Hi, I am new to this forum, but definetly not to Elma. I played for hours and hours on end about 1,5 years ago, and just recently got interested again in what had happened in the "scene". I did know of the nitro patch for version 1.0 (which I only tried a month ago, when I first encountered version 1.0).
Newer hacks by Hibernatus were totally new to me, and especially the new option in watching the replays stunned me.
I would really love to beta test version 1.2, and downloaded the files from your site. Only: It crashes at startup, and only shows a grey screen in the resolution entered in the Config app.
I guess this is due to my lack of owning the ResEdit.sfx.exe (or just ResEdit.exe) to update the .res file.
Where do I find this file/How do I get Elma 1.2 working?
Thanx a million in advance, I am in awe of your work Hibernatus,
Robert.

Exactly! That is the file I am looking for, as it is not included at

The sad thing is, that both links give me a 404
Has anyone got a working link to the file: ResEdit.sfx.exe
thanx!

redbob: i've moved resedit in /pv/elma12.

I'd like you to update elma12.exe and elmaconf.exe after you have installed elma1.2 (those 2 files are in /pv/elma12 too). Because it's the version i would release.
Thanks for testing.

reply to redbob about the ghostrider:
- Changes the game too much, because it makes copying styles too easy. Even if the "copied" can decide to give his style to the "copier" or not.
- If i added features that don't interest me i would have added the stats already, since it's the easiest possible patch and some people have asked for it. But no So it's the same for the ghostrider, ok
- One last thing against the ghostrider: Allows "tuning" (dmd's stuff) more accurately.

My suggestion wasn't about being able to exchange "ghostrider replays". You should only be able to race your own ghosts. But I do see, that with this option the "danger arises" that somebody "steals" the ghostrider replays of a good player. Is that what your worry about?
Isn't there a way to program the ghostrider I a way that this can't happen?
(thanx for your quick replies!)
btw: I don't get this exactly I think:

RedRRRRob: What i mean is that even if a guy decides himself to share his ghostrider it can be bad. And about "stealing", it would happen because of bad team mates.
Well i just meant it could be a better way to compare two video modes than merging replays. Video parameters (vsync, etc.) can affect the behaviour of the bike and according to some kuskis it can be taken as an advantage (i think it's very random, but why not).Allows "tuning" more accurately.
One thing that i would like is that every kuski in the game acn have his own butten configuration so that you don´t have o change that when you change player. Maybe I´m the only one who would like this but me and my friend plays with different configurations. I hope anyone understand what I mean with this.

Yeah, I get what you mean.
Like, if I like to use the arrow keys, but james likes to use the numpad, it should be able to tell us apart without us having to change the configuration...
