So have you tried f12ing for a 2-3mins, no?

I almost always join in lag. There is no actual lag in eol, but for a few minutes f5 doesnt show anyone etc. After a while i get disconnected. Then it just disconnects me immediately upon pressing f12, but gives up after 5-20 attempts :p

ye, visible times are lame. Imagine the awe if nobody except a couple of ppl knew that Spef was gonna have 3-4 wrs in the next table. Nice start.

nothing personal here anyway, I actually told stini some months ago that steppes is ez wr wander why Spef hasn't tried it instead of hi flyer. He seemed to like brutals. When Spef did the WR I cruised the lev (I always do this after losing a WR) and found something new and interesting (I think it's obvious now). And I can't stop enjoying the game just because some systems are, well, retarded. Why do we have 3 WR tables anyway?

I haven't even thought about sending 10.66 in, not for a moment

What he said. Is it really that difficult to implement a feature that allows only monthly/weekly updates? And who need to see what levels everyone are playing? Another feature to remove perhaps?

WR-updates are unfair when they aren't weekly. All statistics on moposite are more or less messed up due to irregular updates.

At least the first issue should be possible to fix without milas help. Just make it so that internal times aren't updated immediately, or perhaps allow the player to choose whether they should be updated or not. Then just grab the info from the site once every week.

That being said, I want to thank everyone who's working on the eol site (mainly Kopaka I think?) for doing what they do. I also cant thank mila enough for eol, but I really hope he will let others patch it if he doesn't want to continue working on it. Altohugh, I realize why he wouldn't want to do that. It's basically like having made a sick wr, and not wanting to give the style away. If others start hoyling the level/coding the program, the person responsible for the style/program will get less and less attention for their achievement.

It should be easy/possible to hide internal times, they did that for EOLpack.
And who need to see what levels everyone are playing? Another feature to remove perhaps?
I spend more than a half of my eol time spying others and just enjoying the others' hoyling process. Asking in chat where is everyone and who is spyable at the moment would get old quickly, and will inevitably irritate most ppl. Also majority doesn't mind being spied, some guys even get a motivational boost when somebody views their playing (what a perverted exhibitionist community!). Additionally, it's easier to gather int parties that way, and parties are fun.

But yeah, i agree up to the point. We had shift+f1 hide kuski, but not his times at first. Now we have his times hidden in f7. Why not make him invisible in f5 too? Seems reasonable to me.

I think john meant that if the times are hidden, it doesn't still make any sense if you can just check players online list who's playing what and then keep looking at the playing time on the website.

either
1. Keep the old system. That means hiding every possible indicator who's playing what, put weekly/biweekly update on eolsite, rss feed moposite
or
2. Fuck the system. Realtime wrs

Just make all/most int stats get updated once a week, and hide player in f5 if he's in hidden mode. If moposite is linked to eol now, wr table could get updated once a week too. Ez old system.

Re: New WRs

Post by Kopaka »

The reason I haven't just turned on same system as we have for EOLpack for ints is that px needs to be able to see times so he can accept WRs. I've been holding off making a system where px can see even if others can't because I'm making a whole new site and don't want to waste time on the current, and there's a lot of things to do before the new is ready. Of course I could just upload a half done site in some secret url for px with the required functionality, so I'll put that to top of unwritten list of things to do on new site.

So something like it updates times once a week(like sunday) except for wrs not updated on official table which are then updated whenever px updates those.

Kopaka, I wouldn't even have a man made element like waiting for px to get back from vacation to update the wr table. I think just update everything once a week and have PX review wrs after or something. Ya, Spef is doing well in the WR scene for an unknown as far as I am concerned... I am guessing he is from Finland?
