i quitted sweeney todd like 10 minutes after beggining. disliked it much. I HATE burton´s "films". Maybe he finds it big art, i find it big trash.

I liked Alice in Wonderland a lot, I'll (probably) watch Swineey Todd some time too

Pixar marathon yesterday:
Cars (2006) - 7/10
Up (2009) - 7/10
The Incredibles (2004) - 8/10
Monsters, Inc. (2001) - 8 -> 9/10

certainly not the last one, Pixar ftw!!!

Speaking of Pixar...

Brave - 5/10
Strong 5 but not the same magic as the other Pixars have had. Felt more one-dimensional, not as cleverly written and made out of a mold compared to older Pixar movies. Can't put my finger on it but it felt only so-so.

As a whole, i agree.

However the opening sequence of Up is just incredible. 11/10

indeed! Tears expected :D

John: I've seen a trailer and it seemed sooo plain... nothing special, unlike in all the other Pixar productions. So I didn't go and see it, and I must say that after hearing people's opinions (yours too) I don't really regret it. I'll probably see it one day anyway, it's currently the only Pixar film I haven't seen :D

Bourne Legacy - 7/10

The first act is messy but once things starts going it's pretty entertaining. At one point of the movie it was a bit too over-the-top for my taste
(it involved a chase from a LARX agent who was able to take a bit too much damage and a scene where Cross was grinding a motocross bike sideways down a set of stair handrails with a chick on the back of the bike)
. I was looking at my girlfriend and was like "seriously?". That whole scene kinda ruined it a bit for me. Anyway, decent 2h spent.

Re: IMDB votelists

Post by pawq »

thanks for the recommendation, I was hesitant about watching it, but I'll do it after all :)

Ratatouille (2007) - 8/10
The only Pixar film I haven't seen apart from the last ones, Cars 2 and Brave. And it didn't disappoint me, even though I was an unfair bit sceptical about it! Lovely =)

edit
Hall Pass (2011) - 5/10
could've been good, too bad they screwed it up :/ the first half was hilarious, the latter part was permanent "._."

edit2:
Kung Fu Panda (2008) - 7/10

Shark Tale (2004) - 8/10
genuine lols! :D I just love Will Smith, but De Niro and Angelina Jolie were awesome too... :D and Scorsese, and everyone... It always amazes me how awesome casts all those animated films have :D

edit3:
Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) - 6/10
A sequel will never be as good as its predecessor :/ But this was pretty good! +1 for Oldman's voice) Also i noticed cool music through out the film... guess who's written it. Zimmer? can't be. that guy's a damn master

seven is max imo :0

Cars 2 (2011) - 7/10
story etc - 3/10, extremely dull and unoriginal, amusing, but a mix of a billion other films
execution - 11/10, FUCKING TRIPPLE A!!! it's hard for me to comprehend how amazingly this film was done. the graphics, and the mindblowing level of detail, <3!
average 7 =)

+ Larry the Cable Guy as Mater is fucking amazing :D good to hear Wilson and Caine too

La délicatesse (2011) - 7/10 - French movie, had a very different feeling to it than the usual american romantic comedies, and that was a nice change of pace.

The Avengers (2012) - 5/10 - Storyline was pretty dull, jokes were all obvious done-a-million-times-before jokes. Have boycutted DC/Marvel based movies, and this surely didn't change my mind about that, only watched because of Cobie Smulders ;).

I would have to rate the following as near-perfect:

Apocalypse Now (1979) -- 10/10

Taxi Driver (1976)
Raging Bull (1980)

EDIT: non-DNRed, high-quality video and audio reproductions heighten the film effects, of course (e.g., a 6-channel Coppola).
