Re: Driving a real car
Driver's license! It only took 9 years from the point where I first started driving
Re: Driving a real car
Grats! Did did you drive much in nyköping as well, or mostly in luleå? I imagine it's fairly different.

Re: Driving a real car
Mostly in Nyköping, that's where I learnt most of it. Luleå was more repetition cuz driving school wanted to see how much I had learnt Before the summer when my driving school goes on vacation my teacher said "You have it in you so you could try the driving test privately in the summer, otherwise we just do it after the summer". Fukked the first test though, too nervous and caught up in the situation. 2nd test (yesterday) I was much more calm and got the license. So now I can drive my lazy ass around
Re: Driving a real car
Nice, I think it's good to have practiced in different places, since you get more variation and not snowed-in on certain locations. I failed my first test too despite me thinking I did well, then I thought I was gonna fail the next one for sure but somehow passed. Got 62/65 on theory test)

Re: Driving a real car
Got 64/65 Though when double checked in my book afterwards it said what I had answered I got 63/65 in 2007 when I only had the driving test left to do (somehow I didn't go through with it then).
Re: Driving a real car
gratz!
I had one mistake in tests as well, got 53/55 points (2,3 and 4 point questions). Happy driver since 28th January 2013

I passed the so-called second phase on Friday, so now I can receive the permanent driver's licence. Feels goodman to have that off my mind too. :p

Never heard someone would have failed second phase, maybe its not even possible? Just a way to make you pay more.roope wrote:I passed the so-called second phase on Friday, so now I can receive the permanent driver's licence. Feels goodman to have that off my mind too. :p
Licence prices in Finland are insane nowdays, i paid ~1200eur 7 years ago for my normal car + truck lisence. Now you have to pay like 2500eur just for normal car licence and for truck licence its thousands more.

Re: Driving a real car
7500€ needs explanation. That is freaking shitload of money for licence.

Re: Driving a real car
I were going to move my car cause it blocked the neighbors, moved it across the street and when I was going in reverse to park the car I went to far. I tried to get the car up again but the wheels were dug down in mud. Attracted attention of other neighbors which called the police as they noticed I had been drinking some earlier that day.

You sure you don't mean .07%? .7 would mean you are dead, source: http://www.brad21.org/effects_at_specific_bac.html
If put down .7 I'd say that's a potential miss reading on their part and maybe you could get away with it.

I just told you the difference, thought you were a latin expert.gimp wrote:Lol so how drunk is .7(sign that is not on my keyboard but looks a lot like "%")
% is "pro cent," which means "of a hundred." In English we'd say "one percent", which then means "one of a hundred," or 0.01
‰ is "pro mille," which means "of a thousand." Same principle as above, but "one permille" is "one of a thousand," or 0.001

Re: Driving a real car
For the record: 1 permille (‰) of alcohol in the blood = 1/1000 g/mL or 1/1000 g/g (depends on the country).
In Norway: 1 permille (‰) = 1/1000 g/g
In the USA: 1 percent (%) = 1/100 g/mL
1 millilitre of blood =~ 1.06 grams
0.7‰ = 0.7/1000 g/g (in Norway) = 0.66/1000 g/mL = 0.066/100 g/mL = 0.066% (in the USA)

Re: Driving a real car
The amount of alcohol in breath differs a lot from the amount of alcohol in blood. It's close to 1:2 ratio, someone supply us info with a source kthx, Orcc orka
Re: Driving a real car
Generally speaking most states in America give you a DUI only if your blood alcohol level (in 1/100 g/ml i guess) is above .08%. But I am no law expert, math expert, or latin expert. I just use google. Granted Mats is from Norway and Madness' math is right he wouldn't have gotten a DUI here.Madness wrote:For the record: 1 permille (‰) of alcohol in the blood = 1/1000 g/mL or 1/1000 g/g (depends on the country).

I have driven drunk many times, it always seems fine to me when i am drunk, but i always curse myself the next day for doing so. I guess i have gotten lucky so far, but i should really stop before i get a DUI like Mats.

Re: Driving a real car
If you are drunk you should really consider asking someone else to move your car for you.
But you have to have pretty shitty neighbours like Hosp said =(
Never drink and drive! (I did it once in Oslo, but I wasn't drunk, I moved the car around the block and had had 2 shots before that. I still regret it today. I drove really slow though. The parking fees in Norway are really high!)

Re: Driving a real car
Also drove slowly, but Im just stupid enough aswell to do it at all. Limit in Norway is 0.02% and on 0.05% they take the license
Re: Driving a real car
Limit in Aus is 0.05%, higher can take license or get suspended etc.
What driving these days mans? I cart my double bass around in an Audi A3 (2006, auto, black), but find that the power is underwhelming, especially when I drive the family Corolla (manual) around. However, super comfy and good to have own vehicle.

Re: Driving a real car
1995 Toyota Carina E. Runs like a charm, only 360 000 km behind him
Re: Driving a real car
I drove a 1995 Toyota Carina E for years. o/ Was a really nice car to drive, maybe the best I ever drove, even after driving two brand new Volkswagens during driving school 4 years ago for a couple of months.
Currently I don't have any need for a car, though my flatmate has a car which I can basically use whenever I really need it. That one is a Peugeot 406, good for long distance driving but having to switch to the first gear very often in the city sucks.

Re: Driving a real car
I drove a car today after a break of 1 year and 2 months. Thought it'd feel strange, but surprisingly it was the same.
Re: Driving a real car
I have a pope mobile. Hyundai Atos 1999, bought it for € 1250 in September last year, with 110k on it. I had to have a car fast in order to get to work in half an hour instead of 1,5 hour by public transport and bicycle. Due to my job as a stage assistant for orchestra/choir I work at odd hours, when there is no public transport at service. Anyway, I drive about 1500-2000 km's a month in this crap car. Drove 150 km/h with this 1.0L baby once, imagine that. With stormy weather I can hardly get to 120 km/h. Feel kinda ashamed to post in this topic, as this is hardly a real car.
