Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
What do you think about this? Elma on Steam could go 3 ways:
1. If Balazs would have time, he could design the game and sell it on Steam.
2a. If he wouldn't, someone who has and likes Elma programming (like his bro or somethin') should buy the rights of Elma from him (if he wanna sell it) and make a game on his own and sell it and get the MONEH
2b. Or the same story but instead the rights remain Balazs's and he gets the money from the desingner * although the dev gets some profit too)
Game ideas:
-60FPS
-LGR from iOS version
-more internal levels
-popular levelpacks as DLC-s
-popular LGR-s as DLC-s
-etc
So?

i would like elma on steam but your "game ideas" are absolutely terrible
Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
Why not. Nowadays almost every PC game is on Steam, Origin or uPlayMadness wrote:But why?

Yes and all those games are riddled with angry prepubescent kids. I'm all for more people in F5, but these are not the ones we want.ChrisBr wrote:Why not. Nowadays almost every PC game is on Steam, Origin or uPlayMadness wrote:But why?

Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
There has been some discussion about this before. I once found a copy of elma on steam, which was taken down very quickly because it wasn't Balazs approved.

Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
Play some EOL, you'll get better at playing and levmaking just from that. No hardcore competetiveness necessary (:

Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
Also please add those "bad" levs into battle! They might seem bad to you but levs from new levmakers often have some of the most unique stuff in them and many players love them. And even if they're actually bad, they're still battles and can be enjoyed somewhat 99.99% of the time.

Although 90% of them are big loops or big jumps, or both xDLousku wrote:Also please add those "bad" levs into battle! Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
Please, don't start bad levels. If your levels are bad, make them good and then start them.
Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
Ye, lately I'm not really a fan of the "any battle is better than no battle" attitude. Play enough crappy levs and you might just lose your taste completely. Occasional silly stuff is fine and fun, but overall I would like to see people putting more effort into levelmaking. One really hardworked battle lev makes me more happy than 20 mediocre battle levs imo.
Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
Nat at all in my experience.Ruben wrote:Although 90% of them are big loops or big jumps, or both xD
I just don't think new players' levs are mediocre. Mediocrity usually comes from making hundreds of levs and losing all inspiration. Levmakers usually can't ignore how they imagine the lev being played, so new players will produce very different parts because they can't really play yet. It's also hard to separate levmaking process from levs you've seen before, so if you haven't seen a ton of externals, you have an advantage in terms of uniqueness. But these things are only important if you think uniqueness is inherently good, like I do. If you don't value it so much, then I understand if you don't like nab levs, because they're often unsmooth etc.kuchitsu wrote:Ye, lately I'm not really a fan of the "any battle is better than no battle" attitude. Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
I'm talking about a different problem, if I can call it a problem. We have many levelmakers capable of creating hardworked and imaginative levs, but it seems like most of the time they choose not to put that much effort and instead just create something quick and dirty. I wanna see more levs made with love and care and less filler "well, you guys asked for a battle so here is my 2 min effort" levs.
I also love noob levs, it's always cool to see what people come up with before their style is affected by reading outside opinions and seeing other levels.

Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
I do agree, in the daytime. At night when max two players play and no battles are started I think it's fine to start quickmade shite.kuchitsu wrote:I'm talking about a different problem, if I can call it a problem. Re: Elastomania on Steam? (IDEA)
I heavily disagree with the idea that 'rough fast made levels' are inferior to the 'megatested boring (often I think at least) superlevels'.
I much more enjoy making a level with some rough idea doesn't even have to have any route that looks promising (in terms of finishing the level), then leave it at that, it's done.
Then I go play it, and shit gets real, you don't really know what will happen.
But I can enjoy those 'heavily designed' levels as well ofc, especially the visuals. But in term of gameplay/stylefinding osv almost always more interesting with some zweqqy gak lev than some megatested level
