In-Game Editor

Post by Hosp »

Hello, recently I've had this HUUUGE lag whenever I go inside the in-game editor, I try to write name for my lev and a letter comes like 20s after I write it.
Also my mouse inside editor becomes like shown every other second only, please tell how to fix

I get this too! I think the editor doesn't like screen resolutions that are too small. When I choose a bigger one in eolconf.exe it disappears.

Wild guess. Perhaps you have too many levels in your Lev folder?
Try moving all files in your Lev folder to a different folder and restart Elma and try again.

That's not the case for me I think. My problem started when I assembled my new computer. Gameplay is like normal but I got a glitchy editor from the start.

1) Install the latest Windows updates
2) If you have Windows 8, upgrade to Windows 10
3) Update your GPU drivers
4) Run Elma as administrator

For future reference, adding the correct ddraw.dll in Elma folder fixed it for me. There's two versions of the ddraw.dll, the one I first added was for Win7(?) but it didnt solve editor issues for me (didn't know they were for diff versions of Windows at the time). Then I added the Win10 ddraw.dll and editor worked instantly. Been making battle levs ever since.

Yes, what John said. I used a ddraw.dll I thought was up to date, but when i got a new laptop elma computer, the editor really was fucked, way worse than what is described here.

Chris then sent me his ddraw.dll, and then the editor worked flawlessly.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13410711/ddraw.dll It was this one Chris sent me.

But elma doesn't if you're running win8/10, at least for most people. Before ddraw I couldn't alt-tab elma and would get golden elma all the time, plus I think there was key delay. ddraw fixes all those, but either breaks the editor or lowers fps. Always a compromise =)

ddraw has always increased FPS for me and others I've talked with, can it really lower your FPS? Only downside I have experienced/heard of is the bröken editöre

Yeah, I have no idea how it works, but with one of the versions I only get around 500-600 fps, whereas normally (and with the other ddraw, the one that breaks editor) I get around 1500 (at least that's what fraps/nvidia say)
