Golden Apple Awards 2004

Post by Cloud »

I think it's about time to put up a discussion about this. For them who don't know what I'm talking about check > and >

Last time the preparations weren't as good as they coud have been or what do you think? Currently Abula is performing his compulsory army service so I think he won't be able to play a big role in this, due to this I wonder whether the gala can be arranged this year not. At least it would require a lot of effort from the ppl in the scene.

Well, share your thoughts, ideas and anything related to this.

That wouldn't be too good, as only a small fraction of the winners would be there.

Anyway, I believe the GAA2004 can be possible without Abula, but I don't know who would do all the organizing stuff. Who knows, maybe Abu will be home for Christmas and do elma stuff all week ;)

no we want it to be fun... it doesnt have to be all stiff and so... just different players reading, categories and nominees, .. for example... last years winner of the best replay award could read that part, and show the different replays on a projector or something :)
The_BoneLESS wrote:Maybe it WOULD be cool but, think about people like me who live on the other continents ( Canadians, Americans, Australians, etc... )
well, we could send Categories and nominees over IRC at the same time... nothing we do IRL that has to do with ELMA can satisfy everyone .. too bad, but thats the way it is :(
SveinR wrote:That wouldn't be too good, as only a small fraction of the winners would be there.
Well, then number 2 or someone else could present the nominees in the winners place, like i said to Boneless, it cant be perfect, and that sux i know, but for those who are able to be there, and who want to be there, this could be really cool :)
bob wrote:maybe a team catergory....

That is a good idea.. only it is hard to judge ... like.. In RDK, we think we have a really good team spirit, but how is Bonobo supposed to know that, and how am i supposed to know how the team spirit in MK is... very hard to judge i think.. liked the idea though, i think team spirit should be appreciated.. its team spirit that makes a good team.

Ooh, nice yo should mention MK...our team spirit is good. We are pretty much all friends and we all talk to each other quote regularly, especially with KC going on.
But yeah, I agree that it's hard to know about teams other than your own, so maybe thats not such a good category.

I can put forward a few names for 'best n00b' if you want, I'll look through old NWR tables to see some of the better achievers

Well last year it was Abula, ciph, mick, GuyB and myself. I don't know who should pick out who the judges should be this year... The entire community could decide on a poll or something?

What one also has to have in mind, is if the person wants to do it. For example, skint0r was asked last year but he didn't want to be a judge (If I remember correctly).

The DDE voting was good, cant that be done again?
But I guess we'd need to come up with categories and initial nominations

How it was done last year was, the judges came up with the 10 categories, and 10 nominnees for each category. Then the lauta community voted 5 of those 10 nominnees to be in for the show.

I wonder, how did everyone think that system was?

We all voted for who we wanted to win out of the 5, and the one with the most votes was the winner .. If 2 had the same number of votes, abula decided ...

I think it was like that 8)

DDE have nothing to do with Golden Apple Awards. That's a mainly danish award thingie... it will be held again same time as last.. (late summer/early autumn).

Ahh, that was like this:
At first ppl can suggest nominees somewhere / somehow.
Then one or a small group of ppl decides who to be nominated.
Then all ppl can vote for the nominated ppl. But CAN NOT see the results.
Before the show ofcourse.

Perhaps. Except people could vote for their friends etc. and be biased in their voting, and perhaps some wouldn't know who all the nominnees were and just vote someone... I think that was why we had a jury system in the last GAA. I don't know if that jury was totally un-biased, but that was the idea anyway.

I think some merged version would be nice. Like 10 nominees, then polls for 5, then a bigger jury (like 10 or even 20 ppl). I'd gladly be in that jury :)

BarTek, SveinR. Maybe you are right, but do we know what will happen when Abu comes back? Can we just assume he will spend as much moposite time as before, who knows what he decides to do. Maybe he´ll travel away. We cant take Abu for granted. Maybe we have a good opporunity to practice future without Abu?

Just think about it.

Ye but im sure there are also many other peopel that have some great idea's for it too, I may be mistaken but i thought these were the Elma awards, not the Moposite award, i know that the scene and this forum is based around the site as much, but i think there are plenty of people here with the ability to run this with the same vigor as abula did.
