TT battles
Ok i think elma ppl is ready for the next battle revolution: TT battle.
Shortly: TT battle = level pack battle
The idea is simple: You have a level pack instead of just one lev.
Instead of writing the level times, in TT battle you write only
the Total Time of all the battle levs to the irc channel.
Maybe this kind of battle have been played before,
but at least it's new for most of ppl.
I'll arrange the first TT battle in irc at channel #TTbattle on tuesday 28.9.2004 at 21.00 EET (GMT + 2)
I have 55 nice little levs there, the total time about 8 mins.
I have not decided the battle duration yet, maybe it's 1 hour 30 mins or something, isn't that enough?
I think ppl could announce in this thread if they are going to keep an TT
battle because it is kinda hard job to do all the levs.
Tell me if you have any improvement propositions.

Official TT battle rules:
(note: these rules apply only to my TT battles, but they can be used in others' level designers battles too)
1. Basic battle rules (don't flood, no bug times etc.) (see http://moposite.com/mopolauta/viewtopic.php?t=2073
2. Replay saving: If you are a professional player (internal TT under 45 mins) save all your recs. For other players: save only your best recs. In other cases, use your common sense when saving; i'm not going to ask all your recs, but i think everyone wants to see the best recs at the end, so if you think 'this might be the best time' then save it.
3. You can say your individual level times and chat during the battle before the last 10 minutes begin.
4. Last 10 min rule: You have to say your TT in last 10 minutes. I won't seek all the TTs from the 2 hour long log file where is maybe all your old TTs and individual level times all mixed. In last 10 minutes, do not say your individual level times.
5. Another 10 min rule: You have to upload your stats.txt -file in next 10 minutes after the battle has ended. I don't mean the internal stats.txt but the stats.txt -kind of file where there are your battle times. You can do this with Elma 1.2 or LevStats (see http://www.moposite.com/programs/lev_stats.zip). Afterwards i'll merge the times with my mergestats.exe -program ( see http://koti.mbnet.fi/zebra/elma.html ). If you are not going to make and upload a stats.txt file, don't bother to battle. I'm sorry about this but nobody will check manually all your times.
6. Replay uploading: Everyone uploads himself his best recs and writes the URL to the irc channel.
7. Winner is the one who has best TT, not the one who has most best times.
8. If you join the channel (#TTbattle) when battle is already going, you can battle but of course you have less time that others.
9. If you don't finish all the levs, that doesn't matter, the program will add 10 minutes to each lev you haven't finished. In that case, don't wait too high position .
10. Battle duration will be always from 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on the levs.
11. There will be 5 - 100 levs in each TT battle. The levs will be zipped so they can be downloaded easily (I think if you have less than 5 levs it's no longer a TT battle, you can battle them in #battle instead).
12. The results can be announced here, but not necessarily.

Ok, in future i'll do less and longer levs.BarTek wrote:Zebra: heres a good hint
- 10 short hoyla levs
- 1,5 hour battles
since its the first time, and its what most ppl have energy for in big battle like this i suggest something like that. That is what we used and its just the perfect time for 10 levels. You get to hoyl all to the max, but still wont make it boring and long lasting.
that formula rocks, and it worked very good last time *
At this time those levs are very short, i'm sure you have enough
time to höyl all of them. Maybe they are even too short, let's see.

oops I was 9 / 18, well well anyway.
impressionz: positively surprised of how this worked out. 1h 30minutes was right about the exactly good time to hoyl 8minutes totaltime, at least in 55 levels. Maybe what I could want to try is : less levels , longer levels.
THOUGH, if similar ttbattle is held, I would take part of course, these small levels were fine too! But maybe someday this: 20-30 levels and the levels are approximately 20-30seconds long and none of them would be a trouble maker level (hard level or irritating shortcut) Zebras levs didn't have much irritating parts and that was good thing. But in my opinion ,having the battle to last 2hours or more would be a bit boring. 1h 30minutes is a good time. Maybe even a shorter totaltime battle like 1h battle with 20 levs ~20 seconds each or something
+ zebra had those coal programs to merge and calculate the results and we really didn't have to wait like more than 10minutes to get all the cool results etc..

I and jonsta will have arrange the next TT battle on sunday 10.10.2004 at 21.00 EET (GMT+2).
Information:
Time: sunday 10.10.2004 at 21.00 EET
Levs: Joze01 - Joze10
Number of levels: 10
Battle duration: 1 h 30 mins
Level designers: zebra and jonsta
Name your recs as Jozexxyy.rec, where xx is the lev and yy your nick
Name your stats as Jozexxxxxx.txt, where xxxxxx is your whole nick
danielj will also arrange a TT battle on friday, i think he'll announce details later.
Some extra rules which i found necessary:
13. TT battle should be announced at least 2 days before in lauta so that everyone who wants to battle will see it
14. When uploading your recs, upload only your WRs, so that i don't have to look which one is wr and which one is not.
15. Name your recs always as xxxxyyzz.rec where xxxx is the level pack name, yy is the level number and zz are the first letters from your nick.
16. Name your stats always as xxxxyyyyyy.txt, where xxxx is the level pack name and yyyyyy is your nick (your whole nick).
Last time behk forgot to send stats, xp and zox didn't send all of their recs and some ppl sent me their all recs. But otherwise the battle was OK, let's continue on the same lines.

No regrets
Are you LOST?
Are you LOST?
That replay naming thing isn't problem as long as everybody uploads only his wrs, so that there won't be two recs which has same name. You can always check 'was it total or totti's rec' from stats or logs or ask somebody.8-ball wrote:but totti and total?
Of course there might be problem if for example totti is downloading total's recs, in that case try to find some good names for the recs if you don't want to overwrite your own worse rec.
I think this has been the habit in normal battles and cup recs as long as i remember, why to change it now.

oh i totally forgot we are still using summer time here...
so the battle will start on sunday at 21.00 EEST which is GMT+3 i think...
(EET = eastern europe time = GMT + 2, EEST = eastern europe summer time = GMT + 3)
anyway, look at moposite clock, i think it's in EEST even if it shows that it's in EET... am i right? I'm totally confused with these timezones.

We got operator status back in #TTbattle, so the next tt battle will be there. The levs are now almost ready, there will be 25 of them, and they are kinda good i think.
yoosef and axxu are now trying to keep the operatur status up.
