IAAF World Championships Helsinki 2005

Post by SveinR »

So, thoughts, expectations, etc? Any finnish kuskis have been at the stadium to watch anything?

Today's high jump for women was max, Sweden both Gold and Bronze. Kajsa ez could've gotten the WR too, I think, she really had the height in her.

Too bad about Christine Arron in women's 100m though, she would easily have won if she just would have gotten a good start.

..
And I expect Norway's Andreas Thorkildsen and Finland's Tero Pitkamäki to have a great fight for the win in men's javelin ;)

I haev a ticket0r to last saturdays morning events, but I skipped them :X

BUT: this saturday (if not max heavy raining) gotta go watch marathon and drink teh beerz0r to teh park. If it's a sunny day, it's gonna be fun I think.

Today I drove from hesari to mansku at 16.15 (just next to the stadium area)
and it took maybe some 30minutes to travel some 3km by car, felt like I was somewhere abroad for awhile :j

Was a surprise win in the javelin throw today, with Thorkildsen not far behind. Once again he showed himself the most stable I feel, though Makarov was pretty stable as well. Disappointment for Pitkamäki though, but it wasn't that much of a surprise as the only good throw he got at Bislett 1,5 weeks ago was the 90+ meters throw. Also I guess the pressure was too much for him to handle in his first World Championship.

Not Pitkamaki's first WC, he was 8th last year, disappointment tho. The commentators also said that he has had decent(donno how long is decent tho) throws throughout this season, so it was a bit of shock that he couldn't pull it together here in Helsinki.

Before this Pitkämäki had won 7 out of 9 events in which he had participated. He has two over 90m throws from this season, too bad he didn't get third one.
