With the Fruit world cup over, its time for us to decide the best fizzy soft drink ever.
So here are the matches!

Coke v Fanta Lite (Any Flavour)
Pepsi Twist v Sprite
Apple Tango (Appleade) v Lilt (Tropical Fruit)
Lemon Fanta v Pepsi
Sprite Lite v 7up
Dr. Pepper v Pepsi Max
Diet Coke v Orange Fanta
Mountain Dew v Vanilla Coke

I've described a few, but if you need explaination of any of the others just ask...

Ok, maybe I misunderstood you. But I think you said 7-up is Pepsi's copy of Coca Cola's Sprite, don't you?

At least in the USA 7-up isn't property of the Pepsi Company. It is owned by the Dr.Pepper/ 7-up company which is a business unit of the Cadbury Schweppes Company. Maybe nowadays the Pepsi Company has the licenses for all countries outside the USA.
However 7-up licensed its products to a lot of different bottlers. A lot of bottlers who had licenses from Pepsi also bottled 7-up but there were also countries where 7-up was bottled by companies who also bottle Coca-Cola. I'm not sure, but I think there are still countries where it is that way.

7-up's history is going back till 1920 when mister Grigg tried to brew a new soft drink for his assortment. He tested 11 different formulas of lemon flavored drinks till he made something like 7-up, which he introduced in 1929. At that time there were already over 600 lemon lime soft drinks in the USA. After the market introduction the trademark changed a number of times of name, but 7-up is on the market since 1929. (What's in a name?)

Sprite, on the other hand, is introduced in 1960 by the Coca-Cola Company. After 7-up had become the third best-selling soft drink in the world already in the late 40's. Looks to me that Sprite is the ripp-off of 7-up instead of the other way around....

Oh, just another fact. Dr.Pepper was first sold in 1885, Coca-Cola in 1886. So for sure Dr.Pepper isnâ€™t some kind of new Coca-Cola emulation.

Okii! Seeing as the conversation has broken down into which one was on sale first (8O), here are the results (including my votes):

Coke 9 - 3 Fanta Lite
Sprite 8 - 4 Pepsi Twist
Lilt 7 - 4 Apple Tango
Lemon Fanta 6 - 6 Pepsi
7up 9 - 3 Sprite LIte
Dr. Pepper 7 - 5 Pepsi Max
Orange Fanta 10 - 2 Diet Coke
Vanilla Coke 11 - 1 Mountain Dew

As you can see, Lemon Fanta and Pepsi both had 6 votes each, so it went down to a coin toss, and i guess you'll just have to trust me that Lemon Fanta won. Damn, no Coke v Pepsi war now

Lilt v Lemon Fanta - I haven't tasted this Lilt..but I'll choose it, because Schweppes Lemon rules over Fanta Lemon by a mile
Orange Fanta v Coke - Coke. Hands down, eventhough Fanta is a good drink.
Sprite v Dr. Pepper - Hmm, still haven't tasted Dr. Pepper...so I'll say Sprite, which can be refreshing some times. But not too much of it.

i think it is fair the way ante did. otherways he has to say which of the other pairs he like the best. if he doesn't know or doens't mind he has to say something just to get his other vote counted. than his other random votes can have a lot of influence on the results, since there are not to many people giving their votes.

Anyway, including my votes, here are the results:

So the unofficial votes werent needed this time.
We seem to have lost 5 voters since last round...shame.

OMG we've drawn a controversial match here, the orignal Coke will take on it's reborn sibling Vanilla in what should turn out to be a huge match
