Hard Drive Crashes

Well, they happen. And when you expect them the least.

Yesterday, I started my computer and *voila!* "blabla.dll is missing or corrupt blabla plz repair it or go sack bullar". I was a tiny bit lucky because my data particion left secure but the Desktop... Bye bye Elma folder = 15 un-backuped ULP levels with total of 30+ hours work, elma state.dat with months of work (hopefully abu can send me latest one on mopo), recs, shit and ALL. Not even to mention ~1000 #ElmaTrivia questions with the bot and my mIRC with all scripts and stats and shit.. All other savegames, stuff, websites and other C:/ stuff goes ta-ta too. All what I saved is my DC++ share - some videos, clips, MP3's, game ISOs etc. Damn they come just when we expect them the least. This was the first time my HDD crashed and I couldn't backup my files. Damn have to do Lab Pro and other stuff again... Maybe quitting internals, dunno. Must be a virus fakc.

Any other bad expierences from you?
Btw just installed Ad-aware, Norton AntiVirus 2004 for max safe...

Yes, all recs of mine except those shared to others are gone.
Someone mentioned Abula or anyone else can build a state.dat from a stats.txt (I have the only full with zworqy)... can he?

i regularly save elma folder in those extension drive thingys (forget teh name) because i'm always transfering elma between two computers, i'd advise people to do the same, just in case of course.

Or make a different partition for elma stuff would be handy, since most viruses only delete C drives.

I was once like max close loosing all my stuff.. but somehow it started windows again after saying something like "Can't find harddrive" lotsa times.

an guy said that he puts his hard drive in freezer after crash, to retain otherwise lost information. i'd try it.

yeah and if that nat work mabey a bit of CPR, with your fists of course. must break the 'rib cage' i believe when 2 do it properly.
