ok did, just because i totally agreed with you . you can also discuss and suggest any other important updates, i guess loading speed(I have tried this before and my nab eyes don't see where to improve, might be the slowness of php framework that is being used) and .zip upload of recs could be nice

I feel kinda terrible about this project. I have all the levels and I managed to put them together pretty nicely. However, I got stuck on some problem (that I can't even remember) in ALE and it took away all the energy I had. Now I haven't touched ALE in a long time. ChainJoPi will be JoPi50 though, I won't create any other JoPis until it's done.Pawq wrote:btw where is chainjopi :(

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
Ok, so after like 3 years JoPi50 was actually released and battled. FinMan was the first one to finish and did so after only 2-3 minutes, mega impressive! In the end three players finished: FinMan, adi and Markku. Eddi and stefankivb came especially close with 52 and 51 apples each out of 53. Thanks for playing everyone, see you at JoPi51! :p

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
Most of all it was lazyness I'm afraid. But then I also had some problems merging all the levels because the pictures tended to disappear. I remember a few times when I got a never ending stream of popup warnings before ALE crashed. It removed all the joy I felt when I first started working on this level. This morning I didn't wake up thinking "Hey, today I'll finish JoPi50" but after a shitty day in laby I started looking for all the segments and found the level where all segments had been put together. Taking only the basic vertices into account I took the liberty of adding some pictures myself and suddenly JoPi50 was done! o/Pawq wrote:Thanks for finally making it John :) If I may, why did it take so long?
Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
JoPi51 was battled earlier tonight. Not too many people played it, only a handful of guys at any given time of the battle. The battle lasted 30 mins and Markku was the first one to finish with a time just under the 30 second mark - 29,97. jonsykkel came really close a few minutes later with a time of 30,09. After this Markku further improved his time to 29,59 and with only about 7 minutes left of the battle jonsykkel shadowed Markku's winning time, getting 29,59 too. I believe there hasn't been a tie in a JoPi battle ever so this was a first.
Trivia #1: I was initially going to include a Secret Area in the level but by adding one in the way I planned I hindered the main pipe route too much. The plan was to allow for a one wheel hang high up in the level and from there awkwardly yank your way down hanging on the red line and reaching the Secret Area by a swing from the lower end of the line.
Trivia #2: My girlfriend watched the whole battle with me :)

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
Sorry Madness, I started the battle very late, I'll start JoPi52 earlier in the day. Nice time though. So far I have a nice start (first 3 pipes) but then I'm out of ideas. Main theme in JoPi52 will be technical piping, brutal into pipes, bounce into pipes, braking in pipes, leaving pipes in a certain way etc. Fairly difficult is my main goal :)
Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
Grades is now added in the first post again. The criterias have changed a bit due to the greater number of players. Please have a look and let me know what you think. I've saved the old grades for memories and will add it in the first post for all to watch too. Achievements later.

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
Yes, that's the one. You simply drive the times in EOL and they're automatically updated :)
Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
JoPi52 is done! Don't get too excited yet though. It's hard, I mean really hard... and mean. It's technical and tight and bouncy. All together a mix of really difficult stuff, so I named it Frankenstein. I'm going to battle it tonight (saturday) like 21:00 - 23:00 GMT or tomorrow afternoon. For those of you who manage to finish, during battle or later, I have created an achievement for you:

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
I know, but "JoPi52 - Frankenstein's Pipe Monster" is too long, already thought about it. "JoPi52 - Frankenstein" is shorter.
Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
Last night I finished designing JoPi53 and started it as a 30 minute battle. Even though it has a few tricks along the way I'd say it's much easier than the previous Frankenstein level. In the beginning people were flying around all over the place because of the spacious levdesign but after a while the first one to finish it was jonsykkel. Unintentionally this level suffered from the same symptoms as JoPi10 (which can be finished without piping, as jon pointed out). This time adi found a style to use the last pipe as a hang and soon finished with a new leading time. After a bit of hoyling the winning time by adi was just above the 40 second mark, 40,13. Seemingly more multistyled than I thought I know there is more styles to be found ;)
So, future plans/thoughts concerning JoPi? I was thinking of making a movie with all the WRs from the 54 first JoPis (one level to go). For this I need all WR recs of course and I haven't asked permission from the WR holders yet, but I hope there won't be any problem gathering those. Because of my own lack of skills with making movies I was thinking of handing the task away to someone else and offer a small sum of money to the maker, perhaps some symbolic 20-30e or such. Anyone interested? I was thinking of starting the movie project this winter to hopefully get people to hoyl the latter levels some more first.
Til next time.

Great idea! JoPis done quick! Btw I think JoPi is the most legendary pack, then maybe PTL and BaskP, then jblP and some other maybe?

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
Grades and achievements looked over and a few new entries were made. Some people are really close to earning achievements. BoneLESS (where are you?) only has JoPi50 to complete for the "Clean Sweep!". FinMan is one level away from earning the "Paddy is not impressed". adi has three opportunities (3 levels) to earn the "Bingo Bango Bongo", interesting as it is all those 3 levels are Pab WRs. Then of course everyone can earn the "Philantropist" by simply sharing 10 of their Best Time recs on any 10 JoPis. Sharing is caring! ;o
I'm planning to get a "JoPi Done Quick" video to be made this winter. Nothing is decided yet but I'm putting it out there. Read more about it here >>

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
Updated Grades and Achievements. adi is now the only General as he both has the best TT and the most WRs. If normal piping is getting tiresome there's now a new Achievement called "Secrets Revealed" where you can cruise for all the "real" secret areas in JoPi, could be fun :) It's at the bottom of this post.

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
JoPi54 is going to be the last JoPi but I seriously lack the motivation needed to build a pipe that lives up to my own expectations. I have a few ideas, one of them is to build a level with the concept of evolution and somehow show how JoPis has evolved. Another idea is to build a 5 minute pipe, either cruisable or rather difficult (if you finish it you have beaten JoPis kinda). Another idea is chainpiping segments from old JoPis.
You guys have any ideas or suggestions? See if this level will be made within the next 5 years.

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
JoPi54 not in the pipeline (accidental pun) but Im thinking of making a "JoPi done quick" with all the current WRs, preferably with the last JoPi54 WR in it as well. The way I see it I have at least two problems concerning the movie.
First, a lot of the WRs I assume was driven before EOL so without an official JoPi site I dont actually know which times are WRs. I guess I'll just ask around different pipe players and frequent JoPi battlers.
Second, I suck at making videos and I want the video to look as great as it possibly can. Im actually thinking of hiring some skilled videomaker from the scene and if theyre willing I'll even pay upwards of 100E for the inconvenience.
Dont know the time frame for this, the last JoPi has to be released first. Just some plans for the future.

Re: JoPi - A Pipepack from John
I think most if not all wrs are in eol ... the newer version of the site took times from EOL and there was lot of activity in the pack from adi, pab and finman
