You can help by simply running a piece of software.
Folding@home is a distributed computing project -- people from throughout the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer takes the project closer to our goals. Folding@home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems millions of times more challenging than previously achieved.

so ye, it uses x% of processor speed while your processor is idle, doesnt slow comp down, atleast didnt slow down mine, it only uses processor when it has free resources. if you are at casual collective you can get prizes for doing this but i guess you can also think you are doing something good and buy yourself a good feeling, next time you walk past a hungry kid, you can just kick him in the face and not feel bad about it, 100k points justifyes rape i think

Re: Folding@home
what i mean is, what is it going to achieve? are they planning on having a little program like this running on everyone's computer around the world, from every computer around the world? it would turn everything into a super computer, but take a long long long long long long long long long long long time.
