Diablo 2 medianXL mod!

Soo, was talked some about this on belma just now, and was thinking maybe we could do some playing together!

So if anyone wants in or have bragging posts come with em!

We'll do this via hamachi I suppose, and we have to make sure everyone have same version of theese things:

PlugY (for bigger stash IT IS NEEDED!)
diablo2 LoD Guess some 1.11 have to be used, dunno if plugy works with 1.12 yet, have to check this though

And to say some about the mod, It is a complete remake of diablo 2, with new character skill trees and play/weapon styles items and sach

(all of the old items are removed)
Tons of new runewords, uniques, general drops and sach
sick amount of new "uber" places, which are very challenging and stuff (drops charms on hardest difficulty, this is only way of getting charms)

Guess its all to be said, everything is new and all the old is removed!

Its some months since I played this, so I just said that those had to match with everyone, have to check when I get home which versions of plugy and d2 we'll use, but medianXL will be latest version (and update when it gets updated) anyway

Got everything installed now and it works like wonders, will download hamachi now and set up a network so we can play:)

I have diablo 2 but not the expansion. I have 4 cd keys as well for it so if you can still use that program to load 4 charcters in the game we can have some fast leveling.

Morgan, since we play with plugy we have unlimited stash, also every character is completely revamped.

Edit: saying /players 8 in chat in either singleplayer or multiplayer (open bnet or tcpip) makes the monsters as tough as if there was 8 players in the game memphis:P

Item changes
- Added a lot of class-specific items, 5 to 13 per class.
- Removed exceptional and elite items, added 6 tiers of regular items.
- All magic and rare items can now randomly spawn with sockets.
- Improved modifiers on superior items.
- Scrapped and redesigned the magic and rare affix pool.
- Added many new item modifiers (eg. +% to attributes, attacker flees).
- Added 5 new gems and 23 new runes.
- Existing gems and runes now have different stats.
- Replaced all unique and runeword items (475 new uniques, 310 runewords).
- Replaced all sets with 28 high level sets for advanced characters.
- Removed most classic LoD cube recipes, added lots of new recipes.
- Added several new item types that serve as cube reagents.
- Added Honorific items.
- Rares are much more likely to spawn with good affixes.
- Rebalanced treasure classes to make high base items more likely to drop.
- Greatly increased chance to find a high end rune.
- You can now gamble on any item in the game.

- Added elixirs, which provide a temporary stat or attribute bonus.
- Added hidden charms as rewards for beating difficult challenges.

With 1.12a you don't need cd to play diablo 2 lod, just make sure the patch is a real one, and not a fake/virus shit:<

Its very easy, first of all download hamachi : http://hamachi.en.softonic.com/

Then you run it, make a nick, join the network mopodiablo//mopo

Right click on me and find my hamachi IP thingy, Then run diablo 2, go multiplayer, tcp/ip game, type in my hamachi IP and connect!

simple tutorial:

phase1:
1.0 get d2 and lord of destruction and install them.

while installing/downloading images:
1.1 get median xl from this link. you can download it while installing D2, it is over 100MB, so it takes some 10min from those low speed sites.
1.2 download hamachi, install it and inside the program join network "mopodiablo" password "mopo".

phase2:
2.0 so d2+lod is installed now. update to 1.12, link (untested)
2.1 install median xl, simply extract patch_d2.mpq to Diablo II folder, you may want to backup the original file, rename it to .orig for example

phase3:
3. get plugy 9.0 from this link. extract contents of the zip to your Diablo II folder.

when moving files from the torrent i dled to install LoD, just dump them in the D2 folder? files like D2speech.mpq and stuff are asking to be overwritten, so i'm hesitant

not much activity on hamachi lately, but ive been playing my barb still, i guess because some of the ubers are really easy on that compared to my other chars.

either way, is there interest of clearing couple of areas some day with some small group, i thought of cathedral of vanity + extra quest and icy cellar boss

also there would be some other ones like rathma square but the charm from there doesnt seem that interesting. toraja would be interesting also, i dont have the dps to clear that

Well, can't really answer your question, Zweq, although I have something on-topic to say: I'm a big fan of diablo 2 and prefer to play vanilla version, but actually tried Median XL too. It was about a year ago, I played a barb with a whole lot of minions for a week or two. I really liked it, dunno why quit

was something like trouble on the site. i played it some months ago, was pretty cool actually, though some heroic bosses were mongoly hard o,o and some stuff impsy to do with some characters.

I didnt play 1,5 years ago, dunno, some minor skill changes, adjustions have been made, some new bosses have been added.

I played a Throw-Barb and a Throw-Assassin to 120 and got all ubercharms besides one. Longtime playing fun was intense - much more than norm diablo2 LoD imho! cause singleplayer isnt dead until you beat baal on destruction. The gear you wear greatly changes difficulty and possibility for some stuff (those charms are killers) and nearly all bosses have different mechanics.
I think those heroic bosses were added not that long ago? Belial, Bull Prince Rodeo, Quov Tsin and Astrogha? Also Brother Laz boss should be quite new (didnt beat him yet. IMPSY) and Vizjun.

Only downside is the farming of attributetokens by disenchanting sets imo, that sucks. 250 sets for each character? plz...

Btw, astrogha kill took me:
hours of shrine farming to craft specific gear
hours of crafting obv
hours of dying and reloading the map
hours of testing and adjusting strategy
and full 2 hours for the final killattempt =D
but DAMN I WAS PLEASED o/
