Body building

Post by badyl »

I'll start from myself. Started training more than a month ago at my friend's "gym". This is the first time i train regularly altough i am 22 (lazyness). So far i've lost 5 kg, but definetely i have more strenth, more muscles and less fat. Now i know it is worth doing and regret i didn't care about it for all my life. What about you guys?

I have tried to visit gym regularly but I always failed. I have tried it 3 times with friends, but I have never exceeded 3 months of regular body building (2-3 times a week). The motivation just goes away after some time. Same thing with running kinda...

exactly
also working out at home is one thing, you can listen to music or whatever. at a gym you have only 3 options: 1. have your eyes closed, 2. stare at yourself, 3. stare at others, all of which are either super boring or disgusting

I made a bet with my best female friend, that i will do 20-30 push ups every day for half a year. She has to do 30-50 knee-bends every day for the same period of time. If either one of us fails, me or she will buy ~1 litre of some luxurious booze to the other one (~20€ a bottle).

I know it is not perfect for body building to work on the same muscles every day (muscles need some rest to grow properly after training), but i will try to do different types of push ups every day, to accomplish the bet/workout perfectly.

It has been a week and I did not fail yet, but memory is a bitch - I hope I won't fail.

I suggest betting with somebody trustable, if your mind is not strong enough to regular workout. Failing in front of somebody else is much worse feeling than failing in front of youself.

During start of my gym training some months ago I embarrassed myself pretty hard =D
I was with two friends and one of them is a real pusher. He pushed me to do shoulderpress (like benchpress but you sit almost upright and push above head) after we already did benchpress, the last set I couldn't lift the bar without weights even, it must of have looked funny =D I was really exhausted

Stay tuned.

EDIT: I just did 10 pushups. Tomorrow 15. Stay tuned.

A little. But come on, let's be fair. Wouldn't you like to be disciplined? Or to see others achieve goals? That's what this is about. To inspire you lot to do push-ups aswell. Yeah, let's do it!

I did 15 + 5 right away. There you go.

It's going well for me too, I have gained ~3kg in 3-4 months but then I had some 1 month break inbetween where I lost some motivation, I'm up and going again now, was at gym this saturday and sunday!
Everyday I eat extra carbohydrate + protein in powderform which I mix with water or milk as a shake.
It started as a bet for me to make 100kg bench press before christmas, but I didn't take the bet too seriously and instead I'm working out normally on most body parts. I don't excersive because of a bet, but it got me started!

Oil it through before posting, though. :)

Back to serious: I have been lifting my own weight using a suspended metal bar for a whlie. I am to a greater extent focusing on keeping cardio in shape through swimming, though, than I am on the whole body-building thing, as I cannot seem to be able to hold lasting motivation except than for the cardio part.

From the greek kardia, it means the heart, although here it was being used to refer to the cardiovascular system, meaning the movement of oxygen and of nutrients to and from various organs.
