Re: EOL Ranking Discussion v_final_veryfinal_superdefinitelyfinal

Thanks for the write up stini, always nice with thoughtful feedback. I don't disagree with what you're saying necessarily, but I think there's a couple extra factors to consider. To me the most important part of having the ranking is to make it more fun to play battles and thus encourage people to ...

Re: EOL Ranking Discussion v_final_veryfinal_superdefinitelyfinal

Nice to finally have a ranking in place! Great job pawq and Kopaka! I very much appreciate the work that has been done to make this possible and I think this is a really cool feature. I've been browsing the ranking lists a bit and I think I have some suggestions that could make the ranking ev...

Stini, how do you interact with the game? Is there a way to run it much faster than realtime (like in most reinforcement learning projects?) How do you grab the screen pixels if at all? (or is it training from low-dimensional representation?) If you have access to Elma source code this should be do...

Please show some nice internal recs, maybe computer can show us new styles :D I guess it works only where you can locally create the gradient for example "get as far left / right / up / down) as possible" so no other internal than 02 can be done that way also I guess it needs to be traine...

Are these real ML recs or just normal TAS? If ML then that's absolutely insane and interesting. It's all ML, no human input or recs were used to generate these recs. Currently I'm using a very simple reinforcement learning algorithm. It starts with no knowledge of elma and tries to learn from its o...

I'd probably approach this as a reinforcement learning problem, I guess this way you could actually make an AI that can finish levels. Also the bruteforce way could be easily improved by dynamic programming, although it still wouldn't make the problem feasible.

Just a reminder that it has been 10 years since this:

Re: Ultimate EOL Ranking discussion

There shouldn't be a fixed time for checking level though, it should be based on balle length. If the limit was 3 mins, then you could play almost 1/3 of a 10min balle, but if it's a 30 min balle you'd only be able to play 1/10th which might not be enough to fully check it out. Yes, I'm aware of th...

Re: Ultimate EOL Ranking discussion

I have pretty much implemented a very basic ELO based rating system some months ago already. Maybe I should finish it and put some results for everybody to see. What is left to do is better handling of new kuskis (Glicko would be better for this but orka) and estimate some parameters from the data e...

Re: EOL Ranking Number help?

That's pretty much the same as the relative ranking we have now. You take points from the players you beat, and the amount depends on your ranking compared to each other. The problem is that it requires players to make their best effort at every battle they play, in EOL many might join a battle lat...

Re: EOL Ranking Number help?

A simple way would be just to use the basic ELO system (let's call it EOLELO :P) as in chess and think of each battle as a tournament where everyone plays against everyone. After the battle ends, you "win" against all those below you and "lose" against all above you in the result...

Re: EOL Ranking Number help?

It should be quite easy to make for example an ELO based rating system to determine the actual battling skills of kuskis more accurately than the current ranking system. In chess this works very well, but of course battles are somewhat different, so the system should be adjusted a bit. It could be f...

You have no control how the world is. However, you have control how you let it affect you. If you let things that you have no control of to affect you, there will be misery, because eventually things won't go how you'd want them to be. This leads to an observation that true happiness comes from insi...
