I would suggest you to play windowed, I never get golden elma since I do, even in the intro screen when starting the game. but the golden elma is probably happening because of a process conflicting on your computer with elma.

It is free, free-source, lots of plugins available, no watermarks, lots of options to limit file size or improve quality (unlike Fraps which makes raw video uncompressed), and can also stream with it with basic video editing like add logo, cam, etc.
