I tried converting one of MagnusB's wallpapers into a start screen for elma, but every kind of PCX i saved caused elma to exit after a grey or black screen. No error messages. Only the Intro12.pcx you included works, and original Intro.pcx renamed to Intro12.pcx. I used same compression and pcx form...

Online FPSes are not so lag-sensitive, even 300ms latency is playable (at least in Counter-Strike), but imagine 300ms latency in online elma, it's not even watchable...

hm, save&load is hard to do for ppl without decent programming skills
replay editing in professional level takes years to learn (i think)
playing with brake/gravity settings is very possible, but it's detectable (well maybe not with human eye, but with some replay checking program)
