Why would a doctor recommend something not proven to work any better than placebo? That's what alternative medicine is. Otherwise it would be called medicine.

Re: Losing weight
I think it's too early to tell a difference. I aim to lose 1kg/week and it's hard to tell a difference so early because of possible fluctuations via water weight and such. But I'm lifting more every workout session which feels nice and motivating. Hit 1k calorie deficit goal every day except one wit...

You can most likely gain 10kg in 2-3 months by just eating about 1k daily calories over your basal metabolic rate. Calories in > calories out = weight gain, it's simple. Count calories, it's worth it. And pretty easy with https://cronometer.com

I'm 185/80 right now (mostly fat, very little muscle, can do 2 pullups) and just on Monday I started with my plan of doing StrongLifts 5x5 program combined with running 3 km (or going for 40 mins at local swimming pool) every day inbetween, with Sunday as rest day. I have some decent gear at home (b...

Generating Elma levels using a cellular automaton method
I just stumbled upon this: http://jeremykun.com/2012/07/29/the-cel ... eneration/
and immediately thought about Elma. Could a certain, more complex set of rules result in playable, finishable 'labyrinth' style levels with apples and everything?

Quake Live is on Steam and better than ever, imo! Very much worth $10 but can get cheaper from g2a.com if want to.
If you're just getting into it, I suggest Duel Noobs Steam group which helps finding good matchups for beginners. They even have noob tournaments, fun!

Re: Elma 2 should have new internals
Juish and John had some good points. Ramone's were the worst and frankly, quite sad. The only proper point there was that we can't use 'Elma 2' as the name. That said, my thoughts are that new internals can feel genuine but only on one condition - the core game experience itself also changes. Let me...

Maybe I could look into extending the library so more could be done with tags - categorizing, filtering, prioritizing, searching etc. Even the most mundane statistics can be interesting if enough of them are gathered and if they don't stand in the way of the real milestones.
