4 years is nothing these days, it's 2006. Moposite is just out of date.

If you were around last millennium and you're still playing today, and you're still making valuable contributions to the scene, and you have a flamboyant charisma about you, and possibly some arrogance too, then just maybe you could claim to be a veteran

must agree with sierra, 4 years is nothing.. i have been playing for four years, thou haven't been active in the scene.. There are many players, like psy, karlis, abula etc.. who started playing 97-98.. so that is 7-8 years.. and as far as i understand, they have been pretty active at the scene for a long time also.. so i guess they are the only ones for whom can be used the term "elma-veteran"..
but enough for this "who is veteran and who's not"-talk..
