why not make a "pilot" level so we get a better idea of what u mean

I get the idea perfectly clear and i things it sounds really nice...and if it turns out really good it´s always possible with expansions :P...

Why not make an elma MMORPG game instead! Someone with a lot of time can design a homepage where you register and get different missions to complete. If you complete a mission you get experience point and can continue with other more advance missions. A mission can be to complete an AdventureLevel or beat a base time in a short level or win a MMORPG battle (10 minutes battles to longer 7 days battles) aginst other elma MMORPG players... Ofcourse you can team up and make clans to beat a mission...

It would be a lot of work, but could be very fun?

You described it more like a rouge-like game bartek.
But i like klisses idea better. But in order for it to work a few things need to be settled.
Either a automatically random lev maker, or massive amounts of user-made levs, perhaps it could give xp making levs?
And also we need target times, should the user of the lev maker set the target time.
How to punish bad target times?

otherwise great idea.

edit: oh, we don't need target times with klisse's idea, so we just need a steady stream of levs in order to make it work.

Both ideas rok. BarTek's levels just for fun, not competing. That klisse's idea is hell lot of work and the project would take years. But it would be quite interesting project indeed from coding view.

I not sure if this could work. The bosses could have weak spots that you must touch with a wheel, they could be like the animal farm guys, sitting in the middle of a HF bowl or to high to get without brutal or somethn, depending on the level ie difficulty. Actually it might be better if it was like mario bros. on nintendo (that's not rpg is it?). But then you lose all the fun of collecting items that boost your bike so you can get to previously unreachable places. Or mabey items don't boost your bike, they just allow you to open doors, or even they were little quests that someone asked you to do, and then they give you an item in exchange, and you keep finding NPC's that want what you've got. However it would have such a small market, and you'd really have to start from scratch, so I don't see it being made :( . But it's nice to dream. :)

bartek's idea might require a lot of elma patching programming... it must be done by someone who knows it. otherwise it will be quite ridiculous, eventhough i sorta like that idea.
i like kilsse's idea as well. if a group of designers work together, it might not take very long. and a website showing points of every participator and rankings will be max cool. a problem with it is how you prove that you've finished a level, or so.
another problem with both idea is that everyone can just unlock the lev files and edit, and thus cheat easily. it won't change much in bartek's idea i suppose, as it is just meant for fun. but if we talk about some sort of competition, it ruins it all.

generally i like the idea. if something is gonna go out of this and you'll need help in making the game or making website or such things, i would be able to help.

I really like the idea. Making the level would be much work, as you gotta work out some plan, like bartek said. Also there's much work in the levelmaking, and in the future I would like to make it too, but first I've gotta see the whole idea in worked out in a bartek level. :wink:

isnt that what elma is? a man on his bike on an adventure in hope to get all the apples then get to the end - the flower.

i really dont see what would be different in bartek's idea.

Youd have to do stuff like defuse a bomb or something :D
Like pick up wire cutters, a bomb defusal book and get to the bomb within a time limit or something.
There would just be a story to the game instead of a guy getting apples

Elma cant be an rpg game, only platform game with some enemies.
The real essence of RPGs is to take the rol of other person and GROW, leveling up and knowing new habilities, getting money and doing a job (swordman, magician, sage...)

hah should be good a mmorpg with HABILITIES (ez bounce with 1 jump, or deleting killers, or 10 secs shield...etc)

I like both of the ideas. I would so do that site thingy where u'd get points and stuff, if only I knew some php. I guess we need it to do this kind of site.
But BarTek's original idea is cool too. It would be max coal to play that kind of "game".
