hail zweq ffs

Post by sierra »

We all rave about Toringe, and not unjustifiably so. Alas, with all the hype around the Norwegian superstar it seems Zweq's once-omnipotent status has unfairly been tossed aside.

Are we forgetting that he was not so long ago the number 1 in TT and world records? Are we forgetting that he has invented numerous awe-inspiring styles, most of which none of us can execute ourselves?

The problem is he's received "bad press" for no reason. He quit the scene to go and play WoW, which left us somewhat insulted. Slowly but surely his records were taken, even his more famous ones, like Serps, Tunnel Terror, and Tricks Abound. Toringe entered the limelight big style and stole the show completely from the former god.

There came about an impression that Tor was some kind of freak player, the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. But the reality is that Tor is beatable, just as Zweq was. Look at the world record table of late. Look at the world cup results.

I'm not trying to shit on Tor or anyone for that matter. All I want to say is: 53 Jaws. 56 Tunnel. These aren't times to be laughed at. Zweq is still every bit as good as Tor, if not better.

The war, as they say, is far from over.

I totally agree btw, Zweq is still going strong, and there is only 8 seconds between their TTs... everything can happen

zweq invented tons of styles. we all know that. I dont think anyone forgot.

and all in all I think zweq is more innovative

but Tors last escapades

its just sick

zweq can´t do that

of course Tor is beatable

just, no one can beat him now

and if anyone feel they can

Show me!

This is the way it goes, people come, people go. For example, how many remembers dz as the guy who dominated the total time list and had numerous WRs? Jeppe, psy, zyntifox or me () then?

For zweq being in the shadow of t0r, well I don't know. People usually hype the player who seems to be the best at the moment and with all means it has looked like t0r being the very best recently.

When we add up their skill, invented styles and results I think we have a very close fight here. They are almost as good, maybe t0r having a little edge (IMO). Inventional-wise zweq definitely takes this, no doubt about that while skill-wise it goes to t0r (I recall mr and Abula were more impressed by t0r's playing than zweq's. T0r driving an insane 24h TT [+ 1 WR] etc. Zweq just can't match that).

I have kept wondering if the day will come when they don't have any WRs left. As long as the Elma scene exists a memory of these titans will remain.

I was praying that Zweq would get a 36 min TT, I'm now heartbroken, lost, confused, then I got born. And it got worse, a hurt now fills me up inside that I can't describe. t0r is now lonely in the 36 mins club. alone. lost. by himself. please join him someone. maybe Tm will be the next. who knows.

As said he got more or less inactive, so not much to hail him for. However these two new WRs are for sure amazing. I hope they have given him motivation to try get some more WRs. Is always funnier with more ppl fighting for the WRs.

No way, look, people have made 52 with fairly unclean rides. And even if a ride seems clean, on a level like ramp frenzy, it's always improvable. Tor just understands the level really well and possibly had some luck too.

As well as Tunnel terror start, "Zweqbounce" in Serpents Tale, Labyrinth start, totally revamped Tricks Abound, Bumpy Journey start, sections of Lab Pro. Probably some others. Come to think of it he's probably the most prolific stylefinder ever.

well the problem is motivation. if i got such a spirit like i got with jaws, could probably do more such times, but its so bloody hard to start hoyling new level each after each. hardest part is to hoyl touch back (1-2h), usually quitting elma after 5 mins 'whats the fucking point'. tunnel and jaws were exceptions bcus juz had comp at my place and we mostly hoyled elma and after he left i kept playing those levs bcus they felt fun, heh. :?

dunno if it was offtopic, just some thoughts atm about elma
