no because im the only one from nz and theres no reason to make me a judge,
judges should just be people who kno the scene, a mix of peple that kno as much of what is happening in elma as possible, they dont have to be the best kuskis just those that would have a fair idea of whats what and whos who
[10:51:18] <skint0r> i could SACh see KyJelly working at ICA ;D

judges should be ppl who are not nominated at all. But i guess ppl like GuyB could do the jury thing while he is nominated. Or at least i hope, he wouldn't vote for himself just because he is he

Sweden has indeed a tradition for being a fine elma-country, but many of the old "superstars" have retired.. and for a jury-position its best if you have been around for quite some time and know what goes on in the scene
KD wrote:judges should be ppl who are not nominated at all. But i guess ppl like GuyB could do the jury thing while he is nominated. Or at least i hope, he wouldn't vote for himself just because he is he
This topic has been discussed by us jury-members, but we haven´t reached a decision yet .. I am honored that some people think of me as a possible candidate for a nomination, but whether or not we jury-members can be nominated ( For obvious reasons moposite could score quite a few welldeserved awards ) hasen´t been decided yet .. Maybe we should make it up to you people, by making a poll ??
If I was to be nominated in a category I wouldn´t dream of voting for myself, my possible winning should be entirely up to other jurymembers
ChuckleS wrote:oooh, looks like theres no UK judge...(hint)
Its true that no english judge have been chosen, but that is because english kuskit are relatively new.. and, as a consequense of that, lack the bigger historical oversight in the scene.. sorry

HUN/CZE/RUS maybe :].

The problem of RUS is that it's very new country in the scene, they haven't experienced the history etc. Next year for sure but not now, I think.

I think www.elastomania.hu is the best elma page ever (ok, maybe mopo is a little bit better). But it is only for hungarians, so it's not part of the "scene" as you think about it. When we are talking about this whole stuff, the scene is only #across, and lauta, and that's a problem imo.

What is it about "The problem of RUS is that it's very new country in the scene, they haven't experienced the history etc. Next year for sure but not now, I think." that you guys don't understand?
We all know Darmoed is the guy with the best tt, most wr's and is one hell of a good elmaplayer 8), but it doesn't change the fact that he's also very new to the scene compared to guys like abula, guyb, karlis, jokke and lots of other guys. This year, it's too early for russia to have a jury member, but next year you guys will also be part of the old elma community. Don't take it like the nordic contries dislike you guys, coz we certainly don't, but realize the fact, which is russia is too new.

what you are talking about????
We've got our scene and it's also very old, but cause internet in OUR f$%# country was a real problem, we were unable to come here or anywhere else, besides many of our people don't know English, that's da problem is....

but the way We with Vadim organised our Championship 2 years ago... Isn't so old enough?

If you haven't been able to come online untill lately, then you haven't really been able to know what's been going on over irc and mopolauta, which in an informative way makes you a new country :?

yah!! I'm back :)

The best solution in my opinion would be to do like they've done in the european parlament where every country have a representative number of representants compared to their population.

If we used that system every country would have at least one jury member, whereas finland with all their kuskis would have like 10 or something :D.

To those who are going to say: "but that way even some n00bs or n00b countries, that have only been part of the scene for a year, will get the chance to vote. So what?? They may not know as much about the scene as the guys that have been part of the scene seens the beginning, but is that so bad. If we think that way only the one that knows the most about elma scene should get to vote. And many so called n00bs surely knows much about the scene. Not as much as people who has been there for years, but long enough to have made up their own mind about who is good player and who's not so good. Maybe the one who are in the jury now, all old kuskis, are afraid that "n00bs" would vote differently than themself?

Personnaly i'm not for a closed jury with only five kuskis, who all know each other pretty well.

What you russians raving about? Don't you understand that the jury members don't need to be GOOD players like dmd. More important is to know as much about all different kinds of elma stuff. Also this "every county should have a member in jury" is crap, the ones who suit for the job best gets it ok...but I know it won't go like this

you don't understand. more than half the things that the jusy have to decide are about the 'net elma culture. there are only a few q's that do not need irc or mopolauta or sites or whatever. russian people do not have a large role in the elma scene until recenlty so they may not be able to be a good juror. look at the people who are so far jurors. they are respected kuskis who have been around for ages and know a lot about the scene, past and present

ThanaTos: that would rock but it's not possible to organize this if there are like 50-100 members, even 5 is hard enough.

To HUN/CZE/RUS (mainly) guys: this Elma Oscars is for the people around Moposite (#across at IRCnet and Mopolauta), because simply there isn't a way to gather _all_ Elma people. We need to connect the countries somehow (create own topic for it) but this year (well, the previous) arrange the gala in this way.
