time for year 2002 oscars soon?

Post by onlainari »

abula so what do you say? You are apparently only one who could manage to do it "officially" aswell as the danish elastomania site. So I suggest that danish guys or moposite arranges the thing soon.

Maybe a pre-voting for who will get to nominees in the categories. And then after that actual vote for every award (3 nominees)

If moposite or danish site accepts to make this, then we should start adding here the awards ,the oscar gala wil include. All those awards should be considered useful to be used next year too. We should also discuss together the amount of awards there will be etc...

And you shouldn't send messages here promoting someone that people should vote, I think that campaign should be discussed in other topic or in IRC or something. Anyway, someone should steer the wheel

EDIT: yes bartek... indeed, maybe everyone shouldn't be cast to vote. The team who will have the oscar gala (moposite or danish site or some else?) maybe could contact then those who will vote... But I think there's like hundred player in the scene who knows enough to be eligible

Current jury: Abula, GuyB, psy, Mick (and px?)

More suggestions to categories:
- The best national kuskis/sites (maybe only kuskis), 10-15 nations..
- The biggest contribution for the scene
- #across operator or maybe too boring
- Comeback (it was mentioned already?)
- Fighting for something (like trying to get a WR for months or something)
- Da evil guy
- Greatest achievement (Jalli 414, Tor 24h, DMD 38mins etc)

Who from Hungaria..? MagnusB hasn't been active whole year. I'm not sure if skint0r has been either. Moreover I think 2-3 people from FIN are enough from Scandinavia.

I dunno, just said to not forget some people. I don't know if psy has been active whole year, but he hasn't been in irc too active so..but he's old kuski so maybe he knows about the things. I would also let dz to vote rather than mopo or cloud.. it's though tough to have lots of ppl in jury that will get the awards themself like dz would get some award at least I guess :)

It would be cool a hungarian kuski in the jury i think. You should think about it Abu.
Btw me iz trying to get haircut wr since 3 months, without any results, this prize should go to me

I think there should be [at least] one jury member from all the most "important" countries.
E.g: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Hungary and maybe some more. There can be more than one member from one country as well of course.

And these jurys should be well-informed about the scene of course, so Hungary is a little bit problematic, coz we have not too much ppl always-online. Maybe krychek, jcl or mgen.

KD: that's the problem. No one isn't active internationaly from Hungary. Well, I'm Finnish, px is kinda Swedish and psy Norwegian :P. Too big jury is problematic too.

There are active hungarians, just on #across they are rare :( But it would be unfair only scandinavian jury.

Don't worry about all-scandinavian jury, cause Finland actually isn't a part of Scandinavia. ;)
4th position in WC4 (DAMN YOU KARLIS!!!!) PWNED KARLIS IN WC5!!!!TT:39:2x:xx (you've got some playing to do Stini ;) ) When it's all over the question is not who was right. The question is who's left.

 Btw what would be the work of the jury? Select the nominees, or select the winners? Or there would be polls in any category?

Well we gotta have polls for the final selections, don't we? At least for some of the categories, like Kuski of Year or whatever.

Is Kuski of Year still a question? I guess dmd made the biggest thing ever in elma, and even if he wouldn't win the poll, he is the KOY.

There are often some categories where you pretty much know beforehand who will win, but you have to do them anyway. In my opinion at least. :)

root wrote:I dont think it is a good idea make jury by Abula. I am sure he will choose his friends and all will be from Finland.
Better will be if jury has 6 members from each contries (the best in total time) like from Hungary CSabi, from Finland Abula, from Sweden Bartek etc. Chairman of these country will choose their countrymen.
I think CSabi, TonyLee, Russian "leader" (?) (etc.) don't know so much about international things. They should come to #across or talk here on Mopolauta or something so we could share thoughts and opinions more.

Now we have people from FIN, DEN and AUS. I admit it would have been coal to get people from HUN and CZE but I just can't say any suitable person. mrickx and MUe would have been if MUe hadn't disappear (from international scene) and mrickx cheat.

Kuski and team of the year polls will be up in a while, they are different than this Oscars thing. We are not sure yet if the winners are voted by public or jury. At least the candidates will be nominated by jury.

Ye, CSabi isn't that active in international scene, he has got work to do, and so on. But i think there are some (let's say me  ) who could be in the jury i think. Ok then it wouldn't be fair for others who live in Finland, and they are more in the whole thing. I dunno.

I think there should be official categories that are chosen every year, then few not-so-serious. Nice ideas so far...I hope that most of these will be given as oscars 8)

Too bad no more finns can't join the jury. I think I have been very active whole year 2002. Watched many different external contest, played hundreds of levs and talked at #across to many people. Also me iz have strong opinions who should get what ...I wanna judge :)

That thing about spreading out the jury was just a suggestion, and Finland probably should have at least two jury-members.

I think there should be only one jury from each country. Too many juries from the same country are very likely to choose a winner from their own country, also the jury members shouldn't be in the same team, since that could make the same problem ...

A good jury in my opinion would be something like this:

Finland: Abula[FM]
Sweden: magicman[CF], MadMan[EM] or bartek[CF] (maybe)
Norway: TorInge[IC] or Skint0r[IC] (maybe)
Denmark: GuyB[RDK]
Australia: Mick[EM] )___ ... though this would make a problem :?
Canada: Ciph[EM] )
Hungary: CSabi[TEA] or TomCat[TEA] (MGen would also be a good jury, but i was told i didn't want to)
Czech: if there should be any, it should be Radim in my opinion.

... Don't mind me, i'm just thinking out loud

skint0r didn't want to. TorInge doesn't know much about the scene overall I think. Same with CSabi, TomCat might be. magicman hasn't been active whole year. BarTek won't be taken.

Hehe, a good point there. :)
But TorInge played 24h TT 2x of december 2002.
DMD made under 39 TT 2nd of january 2003 so it can't be counted. :)

Looks like the Nordic Countries also include the baltic countries as well (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). Not that that's relevant. :)
On the actual topic: I think there should be at least one judge from either Norway or Sweden, at least.
