Ok people. This is how beginners play. And when you make levels, make them EASY enough for beginners. Always easier to finish, and as we know, even though internals are easy they host uncountable numbers of hard tricks/shortcuts/moves etc. BLAZTEK ARE YOU READING? Think these 2 fellas would finish your levels?

I was gonna say that the vast majority of people in battles are much better than those guys, but then I realized that must be partly because balle levs are often too hard for them to finish or enjoy, so they play one or two and delete the game.

I think not, if you mean new EOL players. Most people are not aware of EOL or the scene. It's probably not intuitive to even guess "that silly game that was passed around in school IT class 13 years ago" has a lively community. Simply googling "elasto mania" doesn't give EOL in teh first results either.

So if the consensus is that this community could use some notable growth, there are a couple of problems.

1. Those countless people who used to play casually are not very likely to stumble upon EOL.
2. If they do, there's a very steep learning curve in battles.

Is it a good thing though? Could argue that those problems filter only some specific types of people into the game. :) Also, is the size of this scene perfect as it is, or could we have an even nicer time with more players? :D

i don't think we need a mega-noobie-boost, but a few new players wouldn't be a bad thing. sometimes it gets lonely in EOL during the nighttime, when only 2-3 ppl are playing a balle.

ye, that too.

in my opinion an absolute must-have would be a downloadable ready-to-go EOL version, that can be found on google, downloaded, installed and registerted within 10 minutes max. no potential new player who watches some elma vid and thinks "oh, that looks fun" will go through the process of downloading elma 1.0 and then patching it up, finding the correct IP-adress and whatnot. is there some more or less ready-to-play EOL on some torrents site? i remember in 2008 or dunno excactly when, when the first stable version of belma was out, that there were a dozens of players called "torrents.ru" who apparently played with some belma-version from some russian torrents site. of course it would be even better if there was some legal version with everything included, that appears as first result on google when you seach for Elasto Mania, but i don't think that's gonna happen before Elma 2.0.

Was bit enjoyable but those two were really annoying and more nab than anyone I've ever seen. Not possible to be that bad so they probably played worse just to be more 'funny' which they were not anyways.

haha found this hularious. Brought back memories of when I first played. I couldn't even do the alo volt cause I didn't know what it was. I just remember watching replays and eventually noticing that they were spinning faster than I could and getting frusterated.

I completely agree that there needs to be some torrent package that will get eol up and running for people. That would attract many new players and that can only be a good thing. Heck, I haven't played in probably just over a year. One because too lazy to look up the ip address. The IP address should be right on Moposite homepage on the right or something... or is it there already?

Ye. There is part 2 and3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnWDZxOTL7w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLetl1tGl3M
I saw that and surprised me how impsy is to reach first apple on Tag. Some ppl thinks the lev we make are hard for newbies. But look at Tag, after that, every simple apple or "easy" polygon to reach would be hard then.
I wish i made a video with my very first time trying Elma!

OT: I recorded my roommate playing elma for the first time. Unfortunately I only filmed her face, not what she was doing in the game. I want to do more of that and somehow include in the documentary.

Not in iOS version. Springs too stiff and center of gravity too low. iOS bike is quite shit imo, even if it has a bit more horsepower.
